whatever unit you buy I think you may want to revisit your design on running all that , house , 3400 sqft , garage , 750., and bonus room , 400, and DHW from one set of lines, I think you need to look at 2 here and put a third for your shop,

60 miles west of Nashville and it hasn't been above freezing in days , last 2 nights we had 0 degrees wed night, and 8 degrees Thursday night , I find myself standing in front of it to get the warmth , However got to be careful when i have a good fire with blue flames and I open the door ive singed my hair a few times

But no I don't miss an inside stove at all , never again

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: 5 wrap pex melting snow
« on: January 29, 2015, 07:49:18 PM »
I guess there is no sure way to tell where it is leaking...where it is melting the earth above the pipe is likely the lowest spot in the pipe. but an educated guess would say the likely hood of where the leak is would be the splice (unless a stone or something has worked it's way through the tile or it was damaged at installation   you splice it? if so you know what you did, now think long and hard and come to your own conclusion on whether or not the splice could have failed.  also when did you notice this melting..perhaps it was a mild day and if this is a low spot in the yard it may be the first spot to melt off a little?

Before you dig...be sure you have a problem
Willie alluded to it here , I'm going to ride his coattails and expand , you need to find out if your leaking and loosing heat before you dig , a lot of times a ditch dig last year wont snow over for some reason or its a low spot as willie said, so figure out a way to accurately measure the temp coming out of your boiler and at the first device and monitor that over time for a big difference . Monitor if your leaking water same way over time , dont jump to dig it up until you know for sure

unless they have permission to they cannot give out customers name and contact info. it shouldn't matter if its the older model like mine, biggest difference is the cap . when you start talking boilers keep in mind it like asking which truck is best , everyone has their opinion, what sold me was being able to walk through the shop and seeing them made. to me it was like buying tools, buy a good well made one or buy a cheap one , this seems made to last , price was good while it burns anything green or not like all of them it does better on seasoned wood , i mix mine a bit

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Hydronic heater for garage
« on: January 14, 2015, 05:59:01 AM »
I build my own heaters , its pretty simple and they work well , I use them to heat 2 large greenhouses so they would do a garage or shop easily    I buy one 22x22 heat exchanger---176.00 ,   1 Lasko 2265QM 20-Inch Max Performance fan  =75.00   1 thermost --37.00 , build a wood frame 12-14 wide and mount the heat exchanger in it ,mount the fan on backside and  plug the fan into the thermostat and locate the thermostat on other side of room ,

Ive been running these 2 years now, no issues , you can adjust the size of your eat exchanger accordingly but that one there will do it no problem

Actually a few people absolutely swear by the Timberline sharpener, keeps every tooth the same and also keeps the nice little hook in them that a file leaves.

Ive heard they are really good , when this one gives up the ghost ill try one

a wise man knows his limitations and overcomes them

I cant sharpen a chain saw with a file and I cant lay brick , lay 2 and throw 3

I buy a sharpener for the chain and pays some one to lay the brick

I actually have one and use it all the time, I've found that you have to hold your chain still in the tool and not rely on the clamps and tool to hold it steady , rather you hold it by hand so the angle doesnt change, Ive been more than impressed by it and would buy another. i talked to a friend of mine who has a commercial shop and uses the commercial versions and he says you have to hold them with all of them that over time they get sloppy , I know someone will disagree but I like mine , its a 35 ,oo dollar sharpener that's paid for its self  10 times over and i can consistently get a sharp chain with it , like any other tool its only as good as the person running it . as far as sharpening with a file forget about it , mine always cut circles
