Yes I believe the hole is 13", but you will need to make The angles a little smaller to fit easily.

Best to take it out and get a good measurement on how its put together!

Yes there will be greater head pressure. It shouldn't make any difference how it pumps though. Those little pumps are amazing to what they will pump. But, as you mentioned before it will not go dry at the bottom.

Ball valves do leak sometimes could be a faulty valve.

Some of Shaver's earlier install manuals said to put draw from the bottom and return to the top. They changed back to drawing from the top and returning to the bottom. The hotter water is always at the top. Just makes sense that heat rises.

You are right you have to keep your furnace full of water! Another reason would be getting lime or other sediments from the water sucked into the port and pump when drawing off the bottom.

In all it will work both ways!

To all:

Shaver now backs a treatment called Control 2 Rust Inhibitor it is a 5- Yr. Program. The cost depends on the gallons of water to be treated. For a Pro Series 165 the cost was $288.00 one time for the 5 years. I may be more now?

It would be a good idea to flush your system before starting a new program!

The number to call is, Ted Abbott Boiler Parts, 828-687-4074. Tell him I sent you!

I have a 125,000 btu house furnace.
My home is 1500 sq. ft.
I have the Shaver Pro Series 165.
The water temp. in the furnace is 165.
I heat my domestic water to 125.
The heat exchange that fit my plenum the best was 140,000 btu.
The air comes out my furnace ducts at 130 degrees.
Works well.

ambonci,

You can try a shim behind the door latch to make it tighter, I have one on mine now and works well. Let me know if you need additional help.

Shaver Furnace / Re: Rusted Lid
« on: January 24, 2015, 10:10:17 PM »
Coach,

The manual should of said that the lid is to be caulked shut. The person you bought it off of saying that he can't help you is a bunch of bull crap. There are no restrictions in place for one person helping another. I guess that was his way out. That shows what kind of person he is doesn't it!

This Randy person is not a parts coordinator or a middle man for Shaver Furnace, he's just a dealer, and I guess a poor one at that. He was no help to you either!

I apologize for you treatment and the lack of help you've gotten. If you will give me your name, address, and phone number and possibly your customer order number if you know it, I will help you. You can private message me if you like!

Coach,

Was that lid caulked shut? The Manual should of said to caulk the lid shut to keep moisture for excaping!
