« on: February 19, 2013, 07:25:54 PM »
Just looking for a little input on a good generator and how everyone hooks them up to their systems to stay warm during a power outage. Have always used briggs but i know honda's are good motors too.I know i can have power company install quick disconnect to hook a generator to but i have to buy the stainless box 400 bucks. Just a post for people to share their setups and ideas....

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Shop building HX & Fan
« on: November 27, 2012, 08:53:45 PM »
My current set up is not working, when it gets 32 or lower it runs all night to keep it at 45 in my shop. I am using a 2 row 3/8's copper tubing old refridgerent coil about 15 x 10. My blower is a 1/3 hp squirel cage with a shroud to the homeade HX. I am wanting to buy a new HX but am not sure what size i should get. My shop is 30x40x10. The walls are blow in insulation 5 1/2 inches thick to the bottom of rafters 10ft . All the tin has that cheap bubble wrap insulation on the backside. The ceiling is just the bubble stuff but i plan on insulating it this winter. 6 inch conrete floor also. What size HX do you think i need to keep this thing about 45-50 at night without running all night. Then just turn it up when im working inside. THanks

Hardy / Hardy getting to hot when its warm/windy
« on: November 10, 2012, 11:31:52 AM »
Noticed a lot of steam out of the rear stack, stuck a thermometer in the water in the small tank and it was 220 f. Could i have a air leak somewhere? Seems to only steam out on windy warm days. Burning some pretty dry wood also.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Company i found for cheaper parts
« on: November 07, 2012, 07:25:57 PM »
If anyone is looking for parts at "wholesale" type pricing. And i'm not trying to cut anyone out here that has their own buisness. I run across a company called DODDS BROTHERS out of Falcon,Mo. Fair Pricing on most of their stuff, mostly Hardy, Woodmaster,Taylor, Biomass and maybe some other's parts. Maybe worth looking into if your needing parts. Just make sure the shipping is worth it to you. 417-453-6751. www.outdoorwoodfurnaceparts.com  No i do not work for them or anything like that, just a place i bought parts to redo the back of my Hardy h2 with. There paperback catalog has much more than their website does also

Hardy / Setup Help
« on: October 15, 2012, 04:32:21 AM »
Ok here's my issue. I ran 3 pipes to my house with thermostat wire, 3 pipes to my shop, thermostat wire and 12/2 for power And i have 1 lines coming from my well house for cold water supply for the autofill and water for dhw. I was told before on the other site i could just run 1 line for my DHW on demand with a pump. The part where i'm scratching my head is should i run my entire loop(around 300ft)in a single loop or put a tee off my pump and run 2 loops with one pump (thats how hardy did my father in laws) and have them return in 2 seperate location on the ports on the bottom or my hardy? wish i had a picture to help everyone understand it better , maybe someone has the same type of setup and could chime in. thanks

Hardy / Re-Insulating A Hardy
« on: March 21, 2012, 06:48:05 PM »
The factory insulation on my hardy that i recently bought (used) Is shot, top pieces and piece that goes on the back of the furnace. The insulation in the cover is fine. What i was wondering is what would be the best to replace it with that i could get at a hardware store and would also withstand the heat around the stack? Maybe somone has replaced theirs with somthing better than what the came with? Thanks

Plumbing / Armstrong pumps
« on: February 14, 2012, 02:36:58 PM »
anyone have any experience with the armstrong E series pumps, was looking at the E9 as the primary and maybe E8 or E7 for my DHW. Any input would be great. I have about 80-90 ft between the HX and boiler. Also same for hot water heater.

Is 1500 a fair price for a H2 that is a 1992 model or would you guys shy away from it being that old?
