Electronics / My thermostat
« on: November 04, 2012, 06:35:30 AM »
I had a new heat pump put in this summer and the guy didn't get the tstat wired back right. It is like it is backwards, I have 2 thermostats, 1 for the OWB and 1 for the heat pump and when using the owb one the blower don't come on until you move it to the inside temp. If the inside temp is at 72 the blower won't kick on until you raise the lever on the tstat to 72 and it should be on until it hits the 72 mark. The OWB tstat is a cheep one (LUX) and only has 2 wires, that are hooked up breaking the green wire on the new tstat.

Equipment / Blown head gasket
« on: January 30, 2012, 04:42:09 PM »
I think I blew the head gasket in my bobcat today. I will do a compression check on it but if that is the problem it will be the second one in the last year and I will do an engine swap.
Anyone have any suggestions on a good 4 cyl engine?

« on: January 24, 2012, 06:39:18 PM »
I picked up a B&G pump today, it's a series 100 AB. Looks like a monster compared to the taco pump I have. Anyone know anything about them?

Plumbing / adding a pump
« on: December 20, 2011, 08:50:07 PM »
I have rear on here somewhere that if you lose 15* going through your water to air ex that you are not moving enough water. If this is the case would adding a second pump inline make a difference? Where would the best place be to add the second pump? First pump is at the owb.

General Discussion / Pictures

I was wondering if Willie or Ridgekid could see pictures before becoming mods, I have been reading a little on SMF and it may be a permission issue.
PhinPhan can you check the settings and see if there is an issue there?

Electronics / Thermometer came in today
« on: November 18, 2011, 06:10:27 PM »
As the title says my thermometer came in and I hooked it up to the pex going into and out of the heat exchanger. I used aluminum tape and put the foam insulation back around it. Not sure how accurate of a reading I am getting through the pex but it looks like I am losing about 6 degrees from the stove to the htx and about 14 between incoming and outgoing with the blower running.

It's a Mavrick model ET 7 remote check

Central Boiler / Stopped by the CB dealer
« on: November 15, 2011, 04:25:20 PM »
I stopped by the Central Boiler dealer in Seymour IN yesterday with a buddy so he could pick up a door seal and I ask the girl if they had any used boilers. She said "no, they are like gold around here and we have a list of people wanting them" She said that Indiana passed the law and they can't sell anything but the E class.

Equipment / chains
« on: October 14, 2011, 05:22:16 AM »
Someone on here made a comment about buying chains for 12 bucks in a post. I was wondering if anyone had a good outlet to buy chains? I just picked one up from my local dealer and it cost $32 for a 20 inch chain so I am looking for a better price.

Menards has a 22 ton 6.5 hp splitter on sale for $699 after $200 mail in rebate. I hate dealing with the rebate but I bought one today. I'll post a pic later

As I posted in another thread I did an extreme make over on my H2. I removed the skin and the 1.5 insulation and replaced it with 9 inches of iso and new metal to match my garage. I will try to post some pics.

I was wondering if the gas from a gasification stove could be used to power a small engine like on a generator? Like this How The Liberator Gasifier Works

I am doing a “Extreme Makeover” on my Hardy H2, this was a freebie that I had to replace the pump and aqua stat. I have removed the outer shell and am installing 9 inches of insulation all around and new metal to match my garage.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Above ground pool
« on: August 16, 2011, 08:04:58 PM »
Just wondering, if I were to put pex in the sand under my pool lining (like doing a garage floor) would this be a more efficient way of heating the pool?
