Heatsource1 / Re: Check anode rod

The stove will function without the anode, but without it, metal will rust.
I was told that the chemicals is what keeps the metal from rusting.   ?

Heatsource1 / Check anode rod
« on: February 25, 2011, 03:48:33 PM »
If anyone has a heatsource 1 stove that they bought in 2010 or before--check your anode rod.  Our distributor came and checked ours and it was totally disinigrated due to the chemicals (that the company put out in 2009)  and we had to empty out the bladder  due to  anode particals that goes inside the heat exchangers--plugs them up.
The reason i found this problem is i have a temp gauge inside the house next to my furnace and it read 110 deg. and the outside unit OWB read 172.
We were told that the stove can run just find with out an anode rod so  for the last two weeks we have not had one in ours and it is doing just fine ....so far.

Just wanted to give you a head's up on what i found out.  Hope it helps.

Heatsource1 / Yearly water test
« on: December 13, 2010, 01:25:48 PM »
Has anyone had the joys of doing the yearly water test that is required with a Heatsource 1 yet?  We have had our stove now for a little over a year now.  Have used it on and off pretty much all year long.
The book (which is basically useless) says the water test is free.  But when you call the company they said it's going to cost $25 --UNLESS you buy a gallon of chemicals for $40 and you will get the test for free then.    When the stove was  installed by he dealer we were told the yearly water test would be free and we would not need to add chemicals to the stove for at least 4-5 years.   We were just told by the company that we need to add chemicals EVERY year.
Just wondering if anyone has decided NOT to do the water test.

We have put about 18 gallons of  distilled water in the stove so far this year?  The light shows we need to add more water again.   Just wondering how many of gallons of water is the "normal" amount to add yearly?

PS   If anyone is wondering.........I would NOT  recommend a Heatsource1 to anyone.....if you are thinking about getting one DONT!!  If you want to why.,...just ask.

:) WE FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM!!!
It was not even an electrical problem at all!
It was quite a struggle and I want to thank everyone here who posted....it gave us some idea's and things to look at.

The bottom line was the guy who installed our unit had the water lines crossed  :bash: .     After he came and switched the lines---we now have HOT HOT HOT water!
Since then everything has been running great.

Just wanted to say thank you!!

If so please tell me how long you have had it and  if you like it or not.

I just got mine installed about almost two months ago.  I am still getting used to and  have a few questions about it.

The book the installer gave us about the Heatsource 1 stove does not really have much information in it.
The guy who installed it said the book is about worthless---after reading it about 3 times all the way thru--i happen to agree.

THanks

Well,  I have called the guy who sold it to me and all he keeps saying is that I am loading the wood into the stove wrong and that is why the water is boiling.   He said I need to stagger the wood inside of (i have had tons of wood stoves and for many years--- --by now i should know how to load a stove     anyway when I told him about changing the temp.  he said I should not have touched it after he set it and now my warrentee is void---the stove is basically almost 2 months old !!!        There is a couple of guys here in town  that have the same stove as mine and they are very unhappy with it  ......but i talked to them BEFORE i got this one and they said they were as HAPPY AS A CAT WITH A MOUSE with the stove-----what a big difference two months makes   :(   !!!!
I am sorry---i really dont even understand the stove and how it works---all I know is i put wood in it and my hot water is run off of it and my forced air furnace too   ---beyond that I really dont understand it------it is a tad bit more complecated than  the inside stoves I have previously had.

but thanks for replying ---i guess i should have done ALOT more research before buying the stove------I'll learn for next time for sure!! :bash:

Electronics / I have a ranco etc I need to know how to set/program it?
« on: January 10, 2010, 01:49:52 PM »
What should it be set at exactly?
I have a Heatsorce 1 stove.  Have only had it now for about a month and a half.  The problem I am having is the water in the house is not hot enough.     So we changed it and now the water in the stove is boiling  alot --but the water is maybe a degree or two hotter (alot better now)      So i would like to find out what  exactly it should be programed to?

My phone number   is    417-462-7880   - Bill               I have read and reread the book they gave me with the stove but to tell you the truth --i really dont understand it.

I have free calling so ---i can call you back so it dont cost you anything----just tell me to call you .........or send me an email with your phone number and I will call you-----either way     .,.......THANKS

Any -info on this -i would be so thankful.....
