building owb have ? about flue
« on: January 08, 2014, 01:07:32 PM »

Hi everyone I am in the process  of building my 2 owb would like to know if it will be ok to leave flue flush with the top of fire box and then use a baffle(1/4 inch plate) which will be 4in down from top and go about 2/3 the way across from the back to front meaning the smoke will have to go in at the front then travel to the back and up the flue, please let me know what you think

Most I have seen have them come down into the firebox at least 6 inches

With mine I went horizontal and a 90 degree downturn inside firebox.

Mostly because it made it easier for me with what I was using and the equipment I had, to get the flue pipe through both tanks with good welds.

I considered a baffle type but for me I thought it would be more work and calculating.

Hoping to fire mine up this Sunday.
