water treatment
« on: May 11, 2015, 08:33:11 AM »

Just talked with Randy about the Rust Blocker water treatment that was good for 5 years. He said that they no longer use the Rust Blocker.
I need some recommendations for a water treatment. I'm at 5 years now.

I would check with the manufacturer for their requirements to try to maintain warranty. Maybe Greg can answer this for you.

Like mentioned above, it is best to use what they recommend. If you use something else they can make it harder to deal with if you have a warranty issue. If they don't care, I would just go with what is easiest to get. Wood Boiler Solutions 101 is pretty common. Certified Labs is also fairly common.
A lot of the boiler MFG's get their treatment private labeled and is likely the same as something else. I only use the Nature's Comfort brand because of the warranty issue mentioned above and it costs the same or less than most others. It is pretty much the same as the Wood Boiler Solution brand. (not currently made by them though but uses the same test kits)

To all:

Shaver now backs a treatment called Control 2 Rust Inhibitor it is a 5- Yr. Program. The cost depends on the gallons of water to be treated. For a Pro Series 165 the cost was $288.00 one time for the 5 years. I may be more now?

It would be a good idea to flush your system before starting a new program!

The number to call is, Ted Abbott Boiler Parts, 828-687-4074. Tell him I sent you!
