Bad day
« on: March 22, 2017, 04:30:12 PM »

Started out hearing sheet metal crunching in a white out, 4 cars piled into each other, couldn't see it but heard it as I was getting one woman out of the road.  No one hurt Very scary.

Came back to shop, no heat, shark bite leaking very badly, pump shot.

Wind howling, lost power for about an hour.

Should have stayed in bed

Glad you're okay, Coolidge.  One of the scariest things is being caught in a white out.  Roger

I've driven in fog about half that thick up here on the mountain. Was in the middle of an intersection before I knew it. Saw the stop sign go by... even at 15 mph it gives you a jolt. And it's only half a mile from my house so I knew it was there. Was just that thick.
Never experienced a whiteout tho. Glad you're okay.

Got caught in a white out that lasted pretty much most of the day. Storm came in sooner than they predicted was about 30 miles from home with a load of hay to deliver, only way I knew where the intersections were was the GPS. Took 6 hours to get home, had three separate accidents right ahead of us so no choice but to stop and wait for em to be cleared. Very scary driving indeed.

I've been there myself a couple times that is a scary thing when you can't see anything. I don't know if it's safer to stop or keep going sometimes. The one good storm we got this winter I got caught about 30 minutes from home when it really started to come down. Same thing couldn't see more than about a car length in front or behind. Took me almost 2 hours to get home because of the people who should have stayed home in the first place. RT 88 is a 12 mile 2 lane road that divides our town in half and is the main travel route in and out of Westport. There were people stopped in the travel lane trying to clean of their wipers since they were scared to pull off and get stuck. Oh and to make it worse if coming up on them blind isn't bad enough there is a barrier down the middle of the road so you can't go around , now you are stuck sitting there waiting on someone to hit you. Glad no one was hurt that day or today for you guys as well.

Oh and by the way you guys out West what ever you are doing to send wind this way you can stop now. The amount of days in the last few weeks with wind gust over 60 has been unreal >:D
