New mf 5000 installed
« on: September 17, 2014, 02:50:27 AM »

After a year of pondering and debating finally took plunge and got my first owb.
After reading all i could on net and looking at several makes (earth, hardy, acme,cb,heatmor and heatmaster) decided on the heatmaster mf5000.

I had a 30 plate exchanger put in for domestic hot water.

It will be heating an 1800sqf foot house,  parts of which were built around 1900s.  It has a full basement and at least 3 additions. Thru a heat exchanger in the ventilation duct.

I hope i have as good luck with it as most on here seem too have with theirs.

Couldn't handle another winter like last years with those propane prices.

When i summer filled my tank told them i put in a owb and they said "your not gonna be one our good customers this year"

replied not as good as last year.

Congratulations on your purchase and good luck this winter!!  You'll love it!

One recommendation, since you installed a 30-plate exchanger, please make sure you install a mixing valve to keep your hot temps from scalding.  You'll get temps over 140 degrees easily in your water heater with a 30 plate.

Welcome!!

Congratulations! Goodbye to propane, fuel-oil, natural gas, disconnect notices ;), and so on.

Congrats!  This will be my first year with a heatmaster.  I'm slowly working on the install now.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes and the positives on the stove.

There was a tempering valve installed on the hot water.

Now just gotta get colder so I can fire it up.

... I'm slowly working on the install now.

You might want to work a bit faster, the entire last week in Northern MN (Beyond Duluth, up to Canada) has been having Frost and Freeze advisories almost everynight

I know it... I have too many projects going on right now.  We're adding a bedroom to our house right now too.  One I get that closed in I will work on stove.
