I don't think there is much hemlock in my area.  I'm leaning towards Pecan.  Agree?  Disagree?

Definitely not Hemlock, at least not the version I see here in the Northeast, I would almost bet Pecan but we don't have them here so I would not know for sure

Looks like pecan to me.



I was thinking green or white ash until I saw the slight jagged edge on the leaf.

Thanks Sloptster.  Also, the White Ash I've cut doesn't have a darker core.  It's the same glowing white throughout the wood.

This web site says Pecan.

On Northern Vancouver Island, Hemlock is one of our main sources for firewood.  The bark has a more open grain than the bark in your picture.

hemlock is softwood.not an ash either??maybe pecanbut nothing i've seen up north

i googled pecan and the leaves you got sure do look like pecan
