Water temp stuck in the low 160's with E-2400
« on: March 20, 2018, 11:00:01 AM »

Hi All,
My Water temp stuck in the low 160's with E-2400
Very glad you are here.
I suspect that the gasket for the flap that is opened and closed by the handle is faulty.
We continue to go through the wood rather fast.
Havn't seen 170deg water for several days.
It was cycling up to 190deg.
whatdoyathink?

Thanks,
bro d

When you say the "flap that is opened and closed by the handle", I'm thinking you mean the by-pass door?  How deep is the ash bed?  If it's too deep the temperature in the reaction chamber will work to get above 750 where it gasses.  Also, do you know if the reaction chamber temp reaches above 750 at all?  One clear way to know if the by-pass isn't closing properly is smoke will be present out of the chimney.  It may not be faulty at all just a piece of creosote may be stuck on the surface preventing it from closing tight.    Roger
