Garage door

Hi all - I have a garage door opening of 8ft tall. I want to put in an overhead garage door but all I have for clearance is about 5 inches. How does one go about installing a garage door with so little headroom space in which to work? Thanks for the help. Roger

They make low clearance door tracks. I am not sure how low they can go but they should have it in the specs for them.

RSI - Thanks. I'll look them up to see if they'll work for us. Roger

Adding a garage door opener will be the tough part I imagine, maybe they have those in low clearance as well?

5" of clearance will be tough. I think we have done them before with 8". You should be able to order a door 7'9" if that will give you enough room. Give Overhead Door a call or check at LaValleys. Both are very knowledgable.

It looks like it can be done but not with torsion springs. The kits I saw said 9-1/2" for torsion or 4-1/2" for extension springs.
I would think a side mount opener would work.
