I re-lit ours Monday night and it's still going. Not quite warm enough to keep the oil boiler from coming on yet.

Nope, can't be totally shure it's the garage, did some digging today, no wet Insulation. Burning oil next year. Or better yet no heat at all.

Simple AC hour meters on the pumps in the garage and house should be able to tell your where your btus are going. Or better yet get RSI's monitoring system and data logger so you can see what's going on.

MattyNH - Same here.  It's still too chilly to shut down the OWB.  Plus, I only put in 3 or 4 pieces to go 12 to 13 hours.  My mom used to have a saying - "April showers brings May flowers".  I'm looking forward to that and the warmer weather.  Roger

Not knowing how well your garage is air sealed and insulated but that's not bad in my book losing 3 degrees with 35 degree over night temps. I am still thinking that the slab is sucking all the heat and sending it to the ground. Get some ac hour meters.

I plan on having him put a system togeather for me before next season. You should be able to monitor where your btus are going with that.

Fired mine back up as well as it’s barely supposed to be fifty tomorrow, I cheated though.

I took a scrap piece of 8’ auger tube and some stainless hardware cloth I had laying around, cut some holes around  the bottom of the tube, welded the screen in above the holes and made my own charcoal chimney, picked up a 12lb bag of charcoal from Dollar General for less than five bucks.

Dumped about half in the chimney and lit it, standing there and got to reading the bag, self lighting charcoal, do not use lighter fluid, do not this and that, do not use in charcoal chimney….Huh, stood on the other side of my truck while enjoying an adult beverage. After about 15 minutes I dumped the charcoal on top of several wedge shaped pieces I had already laid in the stove. Some more kindling and small splits on top of the charcoal. Shut the door and closed the bypass, in less than 30 seconds smoke was gone.

Had another Strongbow to celebrate.
