Making a decision on which model
« on: November 10, 2011, 07:58:58 AM »

I have a 100 year old house that has very little insulation in the walls. I have sprayed the roof with that spray insulation. The house is about 6000 sg feet and i am using 3 heat pumps to heat it now. I am ona budget payment with my eletric provider at 460.00 a month all year long. I am looking at 2 different models to purchase and would like a little help. They are the MF 10000E or the G400. I am wanting to make a good investment that will last a long time and saves as much as i can on my elertic bill at the same time. Is there anybody using these models that may be able to help out with numbers of savings? Thanks for your help.

Welcome!

I might be able to help with electric use comparison. Last year my home (2700 sq ft) was heated with one heat pump and an indoor wood furnace. Honestly we got lazy and did not operate the indoor wood burner as much as we should have. Becoming more energy conscious we made a few more changes around the house, including adding our CL5036.

Here's two years of electric use. Although we are just getting into our winter months you can tell we have done a 180 from last year.

My electric bill is now 1/2 of what I was paying a year ago.

I prefer the HE models over the gasifiers. Having burned both I don't see much difference in efficiancy and the standard models are easier to operate.

It was great talking to you Scott and you answered a lot of questions that I had. I also meet Dave Youder Saturday and looked at the furnace and he showed us a bunch of different things about it. He is coming by this week to get everything lined out and get this installed. I am going to go with the 10000e unit over the g400. I think that is the best thing for us at this time. I can't wait to get this installed and stop giving so much money to RECC. So thanks for helping me with this and when I get this installed I will let you guys know how it is doing!!!!
