You could do the hammer drill method but I would just core drill it, just rent one drill your hole and be done, that's just what I would do.

I most likely will go through the concrete. I just wanted some opinions and experiences with going above the concrete before I made my final decision.

Yes, through the foundation, I only come up the side of the building when it's necessary because of a pad.
