What happened to the shaver website?  Are they tied in with Nature's Comfort now?  Seemed like they were arch rivals?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / copper water coil failure

The 1/2 ID 50' hot water coil in our OWB failed in several places after four years while being used 24/7 - 365 for DHW.  What conditions contribute to this failure?  There were several pinhole leaks

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Water Temperature Crashed
« on: February 18, 2013, 05:56:06 PM »
Forgot to turn the draft blower fan back on after loading the stove last night!  Water temp fell to 100...forced air blower in the house still kicking on and off as normal and the house stayed warm.  I didn't even notice until shower time due to the cold dhw!

Is there a more efficient set up than water to air?  I'm impressed

Fire Wood / Thirty Below
« on: January 20, 2013, 07:36:30 AM »
Sub-zero daytime highs,  tonight -30 with -50 wind chill here in Northern MN.  Should put the stove to the test!   No 18 hour overnight burn tonight.

Wondering how other members owf handles this kind of cold?

Shaver Furnace / New 165
« on: December 28, 2011, 09:07:34 AM »
Just got our new 165 installed and working near the end of October and couldn't be more pleased.  16 plus hour overnight burns and the house and DHW warmer than ever.  Uses less wood than the Wilkening home heater that we used for 25 years and saved over 40.00 on the first electric bill!

Never heard of Shaver till last summer when I bought this one new from a private party that went in another direction (geothermal).    Heatmore and Central are manufactured in this neck of the woods so know plenty of folks with those units...the comparisons are very interesting.

Did the complete purchase and self install for less than $4500.00   The rugged simplicity of this unit is appealing and I'm not sure what these "necessary" upgrades that folks have posted about will do for me?
