Water doesn't appear to be circulating into the house
« on: October 26, 2014, 06:54:24 PM »

I just tried to fire up the mf5000 for the season, but it appears I have a problem.

The wood stove reached temp of 180.  But inside the house the temp readings are only 145 on the one pipe, and 80 on the other.  I checked all the valves multiple times, and everything was open.

First picture shows the circulator that I think is not working properly. The pipe coming into the top is hot, but pipe coming out is cold...the feed to the furnace.  Would I be correct in thinking I should replace it?

Second picture is of the model number.  Should I do a direct replacement with another Taco? Or is there a better choice?

I guess I can disconnect the bottom flange and check there for air.  I will try that tomorrow

take a wrench and whack the housing a couple of times, it more than likely is simply seized up and about 90% of the time that will free up the impeller, the motor and impeller can be removed from the housing by removing the 4 7/16th's bolts and that gives you access to the impeller, simply turn it with your hand until it frees up then re install.

The circulator is toast...propeller was messed up and deteriorated.

So replace with the same Taco pump? Or go with another/better brand?
