Tools for cleaning out the boiler
« on: September 26, 2011, 05:39:09 PM »

Well I have to say I was lazy last spring.I never went back and cleaned out the ash from last winter :bash:
Oh well it looked the same as when i shut it down in the spring.Anyways I shoveled out all the ash and then used my rake a fabricated last year to rake out the gasification chamber and tunnels. Then I did what my buddy told me he does.I fired up the gas powered leaf blower and blew her out! >:D
Boy is that the cats meow to get a stove cleaned out!
I am filthy from it but it worked good.
I know I know pics are required but i don't figure the cloud and haze would have done a camera any good :photo:
Maybe you all do this ,but I had never tried it.My buddy swears by it ,and I will use mine for this from now on.Sure saves alot of time and hassle

You blew the air into the boiler?  :o
I bought an electric leaf blower vac and reduced it down to a vacuum cleaner hose. I just vacuum out the boiler and let the ashes fly. It works really good in the lower chambers too.

Yeah I just stuck it in there and let her rip. >:D
Actually there was a method to my madness.I had certain steps i went through to blow out certain passages.Due to my stove being a gassifier I have a few different tunnels to get cleaned out.I have to say it worked great ,but now I have to take ashower as I have a nice film of ash dust on me ;D
