replacing 90s to 45s
« on: October 24, 2014, 04:24:38 PM »

So I have some 1 inch copper in part of my loop, in that loop I have 7 90s  so I know long 90s are preferred  but what about the idea of a street 45 and a 45  to make a 90.  Has anyone done this and would it make a difference  to be worth doing? Thanks guys  for any input

It sure is better than a close 90, think of it like you are driving a heavily loaded truck, fuel mileage wise and wear and tear on the truck wise, would you rather go around a 35 MPH ramp or pull up to a stop sign make a full and complete stop then proceed around the right hand turn!

:post: that's a great way to describe it, I kinda had the same thinking. My stove has been off for a week or so, I was thinking about swapping them out before I start up the stove again.  So I do have the 45s it's just my time to sweat them in. I'm going to do it long term I would be stupid not to.  I should have done that the first time.  Thanks slim for the reinforcing description of the two different ways to do it.

Yup, that picture was a few years ago, was in England visiting the wife's side of the family. I do believe that was a nice frosty Carlsberg and we were at The Alex with her cousin and one of his mates. The thought of it always turned my stomach before but warm beer ain't bad if it was brewed to be drank warm. Kings IPA is quite tasty.

Spent last winter there as well, but with commodity prices in the toilet will most likely be three years before we make it over there again. Hate to take too long though, none of her aunt's or uncle is getting any younger. The wife's youngest cousin is a year older than us. Gonna spend this winter working on the house, going to remodel the office, then if I have time/money do the bathroom. Have decided need a whirlpool tub for our backs. Need to move a door though so I can get a 34" wide tub in and move the window so we can go with a 72" long tub.

The wife and I have talked about the seeing the Rockies though, plan is to drive to Chicago, get on the California Zephyr and take that to California. I had a good friend and his wife there but they have since decided to escape the crazy and moved to Virginia, I do how ever have an aunt and uncle there. Once in California and the visiting is done get a rental and drive up the coast to the outskirts of Seattle and visit a friend and her twin brother. From there up into Canada and bring the train back again. This would all be sometime during the winter months of course.

So I was able to take out 7 copper 90s  the normal tight ones.  I replaced them with a 45 and street 45 I was able to eliminate 3 90s total so I should be ready to rock and roll. Just turned back on the pump and I feel good about having all the air out. I'm going to start up the wood boiler soon maybe tomorrow night. I wish I had like a flow gauge just to see how much better my flow got I'm hoping it was worth it.
