I live in corn country where the land is flat and the dirt is black as coal. We have wind mills in the neighboring counties not to far away. The county I live in has not let them build very many here.

Plumbing / Re: Broken Pex

Jelf I should correct my reply to say I had NO issues with your Pex. I still have some of the Pexworx that is new and I have a small piece that failed. If you want I will mail it to you. It broke both times at the edge of the the brass fitting. One fitting was vertical and one was horizontal.

Pexwork Non-Barrier First place it broke was in the basement next to my sump pump thankfully. Second place it was at the boiler where I had to use a short piece to extend my insulated pex and it was not in direct sunlight. Pump the water out both times. I did get the pump to work but will it only starts when it is on high (three speed pump) I am not sure of the insulated brand pex but I do have some Rifeng brand non barrier in my system.

My Hoss 400HE will burn green wood but when My seasoned wood was not going to last the winter I started mixing green wood in. It could not keep up with 0 degrees and wind. Back to the seasoned wood until it warmed up. Seasoned wood much better.

White, Red, Bur Oak. or Osage Orange ( Hedge ) should demand a higher price than your Cherry or any other woods. We don't sell conifer wood here ( Pine or trees like Pine ). I am central  Illinois If this helps.

Plumbing / Broken Pex
« on: March 22, 2015, 03:12:02 PM »
I used 1" PEX worx pipe to finish my plumbing two years ago. In the last two weeks I have had two leaks. The pex had broke at the fitting. It seems very brittle when I replaced it and one other fitting had cracks close to it.  My grundfos pump was locked up this last time. I did take it apart and got it to spin but would it be trust worthy. It is also two years old and ran 24/7.

After the first winter my HE 400 had a leak in the top where the expansion tank was welded to the stainless flue. As it turned our my was one of a few that had thinner gauge stainless for the flue. I took it back ( they did not pay for the shipping ) they repaired as expected. Cut out back of the unit cut out the old flue system and replaced the flue system with new thicker metal. This winter the metal grates had a hole burned in about a 15" from the door. They would not replace the grates as they claim to be a wear item. I made new ones my self. I still like this unit and it suits my needs
