Hawken Energy/Global Hydronics
« on: January 20, 2009, 03:49:14 PM »

We have a Hawken Energy OWB,but it is made by Global Hydronics. We are into the third year of heating our home and our hot water with it. To this point we have no issues with it. It works very well.In thist past week with low temps. of -14F it kept us warm and cozy with all of the hot water we could use and not as much wood used as I would have thought.

Mine too. Hawken will stand up to their end if you ever have a problem.

RW , Does your stove have the flue bypass rod and the heat exchange tubes in the top? The stove I bought looks just like the global hydronics site describes and the basic picture they have but I have never saw one to compare to. Do you have any pics?

My Global made Hawken has the flue bypass and 4 round tubes on top of the firebox. I can try to snap some pics tomorrow for ya. From your description it sounds like yours is also a Global made boiler. Just a couple of ideas for you, but Hawken recommended a seperate ground rod for the boiler to help prevent electrolysis. A stainless cap helps to keep rain water out when the boiler is ideling. Also make sure your water ph stays alkiline (8-9) by using a water treatment. I am on my 5th season with my boiler and it has performed flawlessly. FWIW I have had good luck using a 30* temp differential to reduce creosolt.

We have a Hawkins Energy gh2000 however it's guts were made by Global hydronics..... No problems for 6 years  then BAM over night which I now know were a long time coming but firebox just filled with water. called Hawkins told not their problem call global hydronics.  What a JOKE!!!! they don't produce that model anymore they will refabricate this model for us but not until may but we need to pay upfront the difference in cost/warranty. then pay for shipping plus have some one take off truck plusthen get to reinstall. Here is another insult to injury. Then the warranty doesn't restart on the new one it just continues from my original purchase. so another 9000.00 plus for an outdoor wood burner. Any suggestions for a replacement wood boiler????? :bash:
