« on: December 18, 2018, 09:21:14 PM »

I'm set to burn 6 cords already by this weekend! Anyone have me beat?  Running a conventional Ridgewood, not a bad unit but dear God does it love to burn wood. 3,000 SQFT farm house.

Hi Folks  Yes, not sure what the situation is, but I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I was way ahead on consumption of wood with my e-2400.  Glad someone else is noticing the same, season has been cold.  Merry Christmas All

I've been burning more wood too. It's been cold..
And now there's talk of a polar vortex in January. :)

This is my unscientific take on this - it's late December in here the northeast, it gets cold and it will get colder as the winter moves along into the year.  What we used to call a "cold snap" when I was a kid is now a polar vortex, it sounds sexier.  :)  Roger

This is my first year burning, heating 3000', not sure what my normal is, or anyone else's for that matter, started burning in may, totaling about 4.5 cords so far, about 50% pine lately, reload every 12 hours for winter, every 24 hours summer. Hasn't been real cold in NC yet, not less than lower 20's.

There is a large hole forming under the woodshed, don't like it.

I have you beat, but I wish I didn't.
I just went out and measured and have burnt 8.3 cords so far this season.  Almost a full cord of scrap lumber, then nothing but super dry Pine that a friend gave me.  I still have about 2 full cords left of this old dry Pine left before I get to my good stuff.  I'm heating about 5K sf of house.  Full basement slab, garage slab, and two furnaces with HX's.  No DHWH though.

I've been burning since early October. Heating 3,000 sft plus domestic water for 8 people. I'm sure I'm through 2 cords. But not much more than that!! Running a new G200 after selling my MF10,000E.

I seem to be going through a bit more than usual this year too. Pretty mild now, but we did have a cold October and November.

About average wood use here in SE Ohio so far. Started in mid Oct and will have used 3 cord by the end of Dec. I have been burning from my odds and ends pile so far this year and it looks like it will last into Jan. Ill be glad when its gone though. tree trimmers left this wood at my neighbors and its anywhere from 8 inches to 30 inches long. mostly walnut and boxelder. I do temperature recordings each day and its been about 3 degrees colder each month this fall. Not looking forward to January and February as Ill probably burn 3 cord each month buts that's why we burn wood!

Seems to be about on track here in MN, maybe a little less than usual considering I have nothing dry. I got a bit of a late start, lit up November 1st. Been averaging about 1/3 cord a week, just went past 2 cord last Sunday heating 4400 sq ft and DHW for 3. I was really hoping to repipe my system and change a few things to gather some more efficiency by minimizing ground loss from the Logstor, but had a million things going on this summer and fall so I got basically nothing accomplished with my wood pile or heating system. Will be adding another 1600 sq ft at some point this winter as well

I lit up Sept 22, off and on for the first couple weeks, and then full speed around Oct 10th.  Oct was below normal and Nov very cold.  Dec has been up and down, but overall a bit above average. We have had snow on the ground since early Nov and, as always, will be getting a very white Christmas.  Have gone through a couple cords I would guess, but only heat about 1500 ft, the shop occasionally, and no hot water.  Just got next years load of logs.

We have burnt more wood this season than in the past. It has been colder than average so far this winter and we have had strong gusty winds almost every day. Plus now I have the heat on in the shop. On a good note there is a lot of building going on around here and I have loads of logs showing up here almost daily from the clearing of house lots. Almost all oak  let it burn.

Ok here I'm heatting 6600 spft . Burned 4.5 cord oak slabs. With a old style Heatmor 400 . 2 houses shop and garage. Centeral MN 3 zones . I have got it to gasify a crazy rose color cloud flames at top of in firebox . It's about adjusting the drafts.  I'm right about like last year slabs are bit dryer this year.
