Title: Pump
Post by: wormmister on June 12, 2018, 07:41:39 PM
Is there any way to check a pump?
Grundfos 2699..new just installed it and I don't think it's working.

Where's the best place to buy a new pump.

Remove the silver screw from the end of the motor and see if the shaft is spinning. If it is spinning, there are a few different things you can do but would depend on how it is mounted and where in the system. Post a picture of it along with some of the surrounding piping.

And if it's not turning check for voltage at the pump before replacing. I had a bad receptacle once that made contact about half the time. Drove me nuts.

I think I got it.
Drained my system and removed the pump, removed the the big screw and used a small screwdriver to try and turn the impeller but I could hardly move it.so I decided to take the pump apart, took out one of the bolts and heard a metatic pop, removed the rest of the screws and the impeller turns freely now, put it back together and all is good now.
Thanks .

Yes
But now I have a leak on my manifold on a valve that I soldered.
Have to drain my system again.

Too bad..
I looked up your model of furnace. Sounds like an interesting model, how's it run for you?

I thought God made isolating valves so we didn't have to drain the whole system.....
