Central Boiler / Dampener solenoid making a buzzing sound
« on: January 11, 2015, 07:03:15 PM »
Hey guys, I just hooked up my 6048 for the first time and turned the power on and the dampener opened up and it makes a buzzing sound. Not sure if this is normal as I just bought it used from my neighbor and I'm still green to the owb. Any help is appreciated.

Plumbing / Head loss calculation
« on: January 07, 2015, 10:08:14 AM »
I'm having trouble with the baseboard on a long zone in my house. The baseboards feel warm but don't really emit much heat. The other 2 zones which are considerably smaller heat up no problem. I have a feeling that the taco 007 on my indoor oil system can't handle the head loss. The problem zone is approximately 100 feet of 3/4 copper with about 30 feet of baseboard. Can anyone tell me what the head loss rate is in 3/4 copper so I can try to figure out whether it's the pump or a delta t issue? Any help is appreciated.

Can anybody tell me what to expect in heat loss out of a 50 plate heat exchanger if the water from owb is 180 and the water coming through to be reheated is around 160? Any info is appreciated.

You guys are right. I wasn't taking into consideration the overall length and HX addition to the equation. I will be installing the 0015 or replacement equivalent. Thanks for the education

In your opinion is a 007 taco sufficient for my above described application?

Can anybody tell me why the dealers recommend a bigger circulator that is more expensive when the normal 3 speed taco 007 that will pump the same gpm? My lines from the wood boiler to the house is 90' dead level. No rise on feed or return. It will be going through a 50 plate HX. Any help is appreciated.

The guy I bought the boiler from doesn't have the HX or anything parts wise. Can anyone tell me where I should look for a HX?

Pit crew- the guy I bought the cb6048 from bought a house near me which had the boiler all hooked up and operational. After a half a winter (January through April) he decided it was too much work for him to keep up with and installed a new tankless propane boiler instead. I'm just lucky that I crossed paths with him. My gain I guess

Central Boiler / Proper HX

Hey guys. Anybody have any suggestions on heat exchangers? I have one I'm watching on Ebay for $169.00. It's a 40 plate and its dimensions are: 5" wide by 12" long and 5" deep. Does this sound right? Also it has 1 1/4 mpt ports. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ok then I guess I did pretty well. The owner just told me $4,000, with all his leftover wood. Around 5 cord. Thanks for the input guys
