Guess it's time to move
« on: February 16, 2017, 07:14:27 AM »

My wife and I and her son have been living in our house for quite a while, Wendy and Justin something like 15 years. The owner lives a few states away and has always been generous to us over the years and we treat the house as it was our own. The few times he's been here he has always been very happy with the house and yard and has always said that if he were to sell he would want us to buy it from him. So he has decided to sell and yesterday we received his proposal. So what is here now is a 2500 s.f. farm house built in 1830 - 1840 and 4.3 acres. I had the place appraised by the bank and they said it was worth $274,000. House needs about $100,000 in exterior renovations or it would be worth a little more. So his proposal is to divide the property into 3 , 1.4 acre lots and the price is as follows the 2 house lots would be $150,000 and $160,000 and the lot with the house would be $395,000  :o. Wife and I both just about hit the ceiling. I'm a little confused I'm pretty sure he said he wanted us to stay here. So we told him he could shove it to be nice and we're off to start looking for a new house this weekend. And I'm taking my wood boiler with me ;) when we go.

For a hundred K in exterior renovations could just get a modular.

Yeah Rich we would love too , but both of our businesses are doing well here now so it would be better for us to stay in this area for now.

So it's going to happen we made an offer on the house we have been living in forever and after 2 weeks of discussion he rejected it. So it's time to begin to disconnect the wood boiler and find a place to move to. Huge dissapointment. The real estate market here is really messed up with houses hugely over priced and sellers not really negotiable  :bash: :bash: :bash: oh well they can continue to sit on their houses as long as they want. We have some time to move , would like to find something soon and get it over with and get our lives back to normal. Sorry guys needed a place to vent :) Huge Estate Sale coming up!!

so now it is time to move. Wife and I bought an old farmhouse here in Westport that has been in the owners family for 5 generations since the 1850's. Going to be a project but a lot of the most important things have already been done. No heating system right now so a perfect place to set up my boiler the right way.We just started packing and the owner of the house we live in put up the for sale sign. I'll try not to run it over on the way out ::)
