Only reason I knew 409 was way to go in 1994 was I seen how good stainless steel catalytic converters held up and exhaust systems . I'm was hay that's same a boiler would go thru moisture, up down temps . It was just a lucky thought in 1994 . My first boiler. It wasn't the 409 stanlesses fault Heatmor made base out if mild steel 1994 big mistake on there part . At 19 years base rusted out and made gasket leak between bottom and tank . It got so hot where it leaked it cracked the 409 stainless and had a drip. But in 2015 I got a new Heatmor dcss 400  becauseI like how they burn and just work for years .
