Looking at purchasing one of these for use on the auger for our skidloader.  Does anyone have experience with this specific brand. I would appreciate any comments.

That doesn't even seem like an easy solution to splitting wood to me. Gotta have a tractor or skid steer, post hole digger apparatus, and buy that thing? I got a good used log hydraulic splitter for a third of the cost of that. I have never seen one of those in action either, I wonder if you can split small stuff that is cut or if you can only split uncut logs, and how small of a log could you split well? I think I will keep my log hydraulic log splitter! Just my two cents.

Okay so this is my second winter using this thing.  Luckily I had the skidloader and post hole auger.  We have split all sizes of logs from 8 footer to 16" length from 12" round up to a 36" hedge tree..  The trick is to keep the downward pressure or the torque will just cause the log to spin.

As with any tool, you have to know it's limitations, I can see where it would be very beneficial in some cases. We used to have a similar thing when I was a teenager that mounted on the back of the tractor, it had an arm that extended out beside the screw to keep the wood from spinning, it was extremely dangerous if the wood spun, this looks like it would be far safer, if you already have the skid steer then I would try it. BE CAREFUL!

I noticed on the video that they only show the last log as being totally split in half. The rest of the videos the log is still partly attached, has this been an issue for you? I used to have a Unicorn and a Bark buster and was going to mount one on my post hole digger but decided to sell them and use the money to buy 1 like this. I 'm still considering it. I want to split big (20"+) logs 4' long for my owb.

I've only had a couple stay connected and that was hedge wood.  I would say 99% split cleanly

I built one for the skid loader with one of the cones for bolting on  car axle (can't remember the brand, was yellow) and a hydraulic wheel motor.

The hydraulic motor was too weak and the hub eventually broke too.
I never got around to redoing it.
Mine worked good on short wood but was too weak to split long longs. If I ran it in in several places before cutting the log up, I could easily split it after by hand.

When I get around to it I am going to rebuild it with a larger hydraulic motor and much larger bearings.

It is not unsafe running on a skid loader because it instantly stops spinning once you let off the hydraulics. I would never consider using one on a car axle or tractor PTO.

Theres a you tube video posted on this forum on that type of splitter…Its def a splitter that doesn't impress me..

Get a TM Pro  - They are awesome. The window is perfect. I've split some very serious stuff with this tool in a fraction of time it used to take me and barely any effort on my part except chain sawing into 30" chunks..
