HeatMaster / Re: G200 fuse question
« on: January 20, 2019, 04:00:42 AM »
There is usually a reason for a fuse to blow. Usually it is ash on wheel making it pull hard or ash build up scrubbing the wheel. Clean it up. It's a slow blow 2 amp but I have cheated and used a 3 amp from auto parts place. Keep a pack in truck, but don't tell anybody.

"I swear by Walmart batteries. I have them in my dump trailer, Bob cat, and my duramax  no complaints"
what I use, you laugh but they work for me. And if you need a replacement here they just hand you another. Dump trailer been dumping for 4 mo. charged once.

You can get a Quest x pex adapter coupling at Lowes or wherever made for that situation.

Just did an install at Emory, not far from you? Got to fish South Holston this summer. Them Walleye and Smallmouth are calling.

Fire Wood / Re: Burning"Pressure Treated" lumber scraps?

A fellow told me once that he had cows dying and couldn't figure out why. Found a place where someone had burned old treated fence posts years ago and the cows liked the salt and were licking the ground.

Been  running a 044 Stihl for last 20yrs or so.I guess the 440 took it's place or maybe the 441. Really like that saw. Had several 064"s before that. Just a little heavy but the 044 feels good.

Sometimes I like the little shows better. There is less contention between manufacturers, less lying to get an advantage, etc.  I remember setting up at a flee market some years back with two stoves, had a good time and a $15 lot cost and ending up selling       7 units. One day event.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: If one were to......

I know one guy put a push button timer on his pump for domestic hot water. get ready to use hot water and push the button and wait like a minute and have at it like ten min. Need more just push it again and get ten more. You could have multiple buttons, beside the shower, laundry etc.

The rest is really easy, just have a double throw relay, use one side to kick in the zone and other side to kick in the pump.

Should be able to do all that. The  biggest deal is the domestic hot water. On demand hot water you would have to anticipate use or go to a side arm or or secondary pump to the water heater to put it on a t-stat.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Sizing logs to split
« on: July 12, 2018, 04:37:21 AM »
Got a conventional and anything under 20" doesn't get split. I don't worry about dry too much either.  Just stick it in, let the stove do the work. I'm lazy.

So it looks like you acquired 4 more youngun's in 5 yrs. Doing pretty good. In another 5yrs that will be 10 total. You'll need a G400 just for hot water. Really though there ain't nothing better than a big happy family.

I guess I'm about where you are. Been running a conventional for over 20 yrs., currently a C375. Got 2 sons and soninlaw running G's and the pressure is on. I'm retiring here shortly and have a GS200 ready to go in. Planning to do some experimenting with it, may blow it sky high but it will interesting comparing notes. Keeping my C375 ready to fire back up if need be. Just a good solid conventional.Call it a lazy man's stove. If it goes in the door it don't get split. Never had a wood shed. Green, dry, hard or half rotten. If it looks like wood just knock the snow off and stick it in. Also got a B250 chip burner coming at some point so looking forward to a interesting winter. Hope it's a cold one. Now that's a crazy thing to want.

Playing with the idea of getting a geothermal system in place, not so much for heating end as for cooling, temperatures here today broke 107 degrees!!!!!  Would the two systems work together in the wintertime,or would I be causing trouble with creosote issues etc due to furnace not having to do all of the heating?
Don't know if Geo will be cost effective for you, but they work well in conjunction with an outdoor furnace. Like Yoder has stated just don't go with a unit that utilities a communicator stat. You can still make your outdoor furnace do all the heating except for backup.

I'm not very smart but a little common sense on how an ac unit works will tell you that 60 degree water will never match your ac unit no matter on gpm. You could only drop your air temp about 5 degrees going across the coil and that's not going to lower the humidity. You need to get your air temp below the dew point to draw out the humidity. Air out of the ac unit is going to be under 40 degrees, this means the freon is considerably colder. Stop the airflow and you freeze quick. For cooling to equal your 2ton unit with 60 degree water, you would need about 7000 cfm air flow on a coil 9' square and a river of water, and still not be bringing down the humidity. Chillers use big coils and water close to freezing as possible. If it's 100 degrees outside and you want to cool to 90 inside you may have a chance.
