Very, very well said Slim.  Ridgewood has always been fair to me.  Both owners( now separated ) have called immediately when I left messages.  SlimJim has said this many times, do your research, buy from a reputable company and take care of your unit.  So therefore, that is what we did and continue to do.  Enjoy your Christmas, I know we'll at least be warm when we get home from Church tonight!!!!

So far, our 7500 is running excellent.  3 years of running 24/7/365.  Thankfully no leaks, no solenoid problems and or pump issues.  Wish I would have purchased Logstor but a rookie mistake.  We heat a 4,000 sq. foot log home.  It does a great job.  Our furnace is covered by a lean to on the side of one of our barns.  We also keep all wood under the same lean to.  So it  doesn't really get much weather unless it is snowing sideways.  I have friends who have HeatMaster units and they really like them...........Vincent Paul Meyers

Thank you James.  I must be one of the lucky recipients as I have had no solenoid or leak issues.  Not to say that I won't, but, I've not detected any leaks as of yet.  We burn our stove 365 days a year.  If Tim has served time in prison, so be it.  He has served his debt to society. If there is a design flaw, which it sounds like there may be, that is really unfortunate.  I dealt with Craig and his father and both were first class citizens.  I am happy with my unit which we purposely designed to be under cover and not exposed to the elements.  I appreciate your response James..................vpm

James:

I may have asked you this before, but I bought my 7500 around the same time you did, this may seem like a really stupid question, but when you noticed your leaks, should I assume you were leaking water also?  I've not been able to detect cracks yet.  Thanks.

Thank you very much.  I suspected that is what happened but wasn't sure.

We've had our 7500 for 3 years, we run it 365 days a year.  We burn wood that has been seasoned at least one year.  I came home tonight and temp was 214 spitting water out the weep hole and steam out of the top.  First time this has happened.  Without going through back threads on this topic, not sure what caused this.  Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply, my Ridgewood 7500 is 2 years old, have not yet had any solenoid problems but both Craig & Tim recommended that I buy a back up which I did.  My stove is under a lean too at one end and all the firewood occupies the rest of the space ( approx. 30' long x 14' wide ).  Most of my friends own either a Hardy or Central Boiler.  The CB guys have also had solenoid problems ( some stoves under cover - some not ).  As always, I appreciate this thread with fellow outdoor furnace guys..............vpm

Are your guys stoves open to the weather or in a building/lean to?  Just curious.

mlappin & updoug are spot on.  My post was to direct the attention of the quality of the Ridgewood which so far has been great.  I don't buy into beating up those who tried their best.  I believe we bought a good product for the money.  ZERO problems so far and if we have some, we will  fix/fabricate them ourselves.  That is what being a conservative means.  Quit expecting everyone to fix your problems, SLIMJIM and so many others have been awesome help to me and so let's not beat up on the owners who tried.  Let's continue to help all those who have a Ridgewood stove and any future problems they may have ( including myself - a non fabricator but am grateful to those who help daily ).  Many thanks to all who helped us install our Ridgewood 2 years ago, I finally have a really warm home with wood cut off our farm.  SLIMJIM, I can only hope to meet you one day.  Maybe after hay season!!!!!

I was completely dismayed at this news about Ridgewood.  We purchased ours 2 years ago and have had nothing but good luck with it.  Simple design, little electronics to go wrong, let's not beat up on Tim or Craig for not being able to hold the company together.  If you want to beat anyone up, the guy lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington D.C.

Let's continue to support all Ridgewood owners on this site!

What should I expect to pay for water treatment solution?  Is $45 per 1/2 gallon a fair price?  Are they all about the same quality?  As always, thanks for your input..........Vincent Meyers

Never shut ours down.  Heated DHW all summer long with about about 1 cord of wood.  Turned two valves on the heat exchanger last week.  House and barn stays warm.  Life is good in southern Indiana!

Thank you SlimJim, I knew if anyone would answer it would be you.  Haven't been on here for awhile, ranching and farming ( and working a 12 hour/day job ) have consumed my time.  I always appreciate your help greatly.  vpm

Speaking of shutting down, we are continuing to heat our DHW with our Ridgewood 7500 but are leaving for a few days.  Our plan is to let the fire go out ( rebuild when we get  home in 3 days ).  Now the dumb question, should I shut my pump off or continue to let it circulate?  As always, thanks for your time to respond...............Vincent Paul Meyers
