Central Boiler / Re: Leaving for winter how to leave boiler?
« on: November 22, 2018, 09:30:42 AM »
Well 16* today I have circulater pump running and I have 62* water temp,it get a little heat from thermostat valve transfer in basement since I'm running on oil that valve gets warm and transfers a little don't think it's forcing hot water out there but if so that's ok with me,been cold here for a while and never fired up the boiler left it all nice n clean.I wrapped circulater pump n lines inside back of boiler to keep heat in stuffed chimney outlet with fiberglass insulation n sealed off top of stack. So far looks good wrapped thermostat regulated heat tape on return line in back of boiler also come on at 38* if needed.i have fire star Xp wifi to monitor temp for wherever I am if need I have buddy fire it up for me needed if we get a long cold spell.

Heat will remain on,I was thinking of putting heat tape on the return line and leave circulator pump on,we get cold here but not to cold, like further north.have friends to look after farm so if I had to fire it up n let it go out it would take a long time to drop below.

Boiler man your lots of help but if door switch isn't working I don't think they will show open many things but most likely it's simple thing like I told him it most be a blockage somewhere inlet or in outlet

That enclosure gets that hot?? Don't think mine does, will check that also,I really think you have something really going on with your boiler if that's hot? The rubber bots are for heat on the elbows but not that hot.The wiring in there so it shouldn't be that hot?

Today boiler wasn't hitting temps like it should, ran for way more hrs of burn time not getting up to good temps, burnt the whole chamber in 12hrs 8* this am but up to 27* most of day.Would get to mid range and back n forth. worked late just got home looking things over opened box to solenoids and one of the 2 solenoids on bottom tube wasn't opening !!great have spares and changed it out and right back to 1200* temps i feel great now was thinking the wood that i just got into was higher moisture but not.Thats the second one in my 4th yr of running, not bad $25 part,i keep 2 on hand.

The dealer told me the gap in the firebrick under charge tube is like a 1" mine was at least 1.5,the grate is still working perfectly only a pint n half maybe in reaction chamber even in this very cold run this week with lots of wood going in it.
