I bought the MP 7300 last Friday. Got the conditioner and a section of pipe, and delivery.  Did a little negotiating and got what I thought was a good deal.

NICE!

It's worth a try anyway if you get one cheap. We've got a few old heat pump air handlers out back if you happen to ride through Virginia.  ;D

hahah thanks!

Wonder if you could ask around at anybody doing HVAC in your area for old air handlers from changeouts. I see them setting around at a lot of places.   Could probably get one at scrap price. The fan wheel might eventually get cruddy with soot.

probably just need a good scraping light the fans on the boilers do at the end of the year

I think you will get a fair amount of smoke out the door when loading, at least I do with my GS100 (no bypass), I do start the draft by turning the control on and off which helps and prevents blowback. But mine is outside.
I imagine a big hood right down to the roofline and exhaust fan would work. But I never tried one. Interested in what guys have done.

This unit does have a "load switch" which is essentially the same thing as turning the GS100 on and off like you mentioned you do. IT will clean some of the smoke, but not all of it for sure.

I was thinking maybe just a big exhaust fan mounted on the wall above the unit.

gents,

Im installing my boiler underneath a lean too and am going to enclose just the section where I load wood to stay out of the elements (wind mostly). I was wondering what people have used in the past for ventilation on indoor units (grages, pole barns..ect). Im thinking either a big vent hood or maybe even just an industrial exhaust fan???

Just looking for ideas...

thanks!

Very impressed with how my 7400E looks. Very nice to meet Ryan and the rest of the crew at Greentech...everyone was very helpful on answering all of our questions.

I will be sure to keep everyone updated on performance. I will be hating approximately 7,000 sqft and home/business with DHW as well.

Pictures coming over the next few months as I do the install and new wood shed

Still burning here too. Don't know how much it saves, but just like water that is really hot, and now with the addition of the clothes dryer just makes me think I need to keep burning.

D5Knapp, you should invent a dog dryer.

NOT A BAD IDEA

I'm still burning. Pretty much non-stop since '07. AEP makes out just fine without any extra from me.  :D

Yeap I might start burning year round, I only really shut down for June, July and August anyways...then sometime in September I usually fire up..depending on the year. Now, with the addition of the 2,000 sqft puppy building and grooming facility we will be using even more hot water.

I almost considered hooking everything back up and firing back up...got my first electric bill since shutting and down and HOLY crap...I guess we use a lot more hot water than I thought!!! but, with 3 kids, 12 dogs and wife I guess that's expected  O0
