Looking for Ideas
« on: January 28, 2015, 05:41:53 AM »

OK as most of you know, I will be starting with HeatMaster soon, I am very exited, I would like to get some ideas of things that you guys would like to see at the shows as we will be setting up a new burn trailer, I think the new burn boiler will be a G200 and I will have lots of room for props, in the past we have always simply dumped the heat from the burn boilers using hot air heat exchangers, such a waste of good heat! How about some fresh Ideas on how to use that heat, here are a few that I like.
HOT showers
Hot air ballon tethered to my trailer
Warm up tent
Clothes drying tent.

I also would like some input on shows that would be beneficial, if you know of a show from western NY throughout the Eastern US that you think might help get the name brand out here please let me know.
I will need.
Outside space of at least 10 foot by 20 foot
Clean 20 amp power
readily available water
Open minded show goers, preferably tradespeople.
Staff at the shows that want to do education rather than just sales

...how about you hook up a sidearm heater to a DHW, so people can wash their hands; I feel that there are never enough places to wash my kids hands when we are out in public, and you can explain how to properly hook up a sidearm.

I am also thinking HOT TUB, it has enough mass you would be able to get some pretty load off of that.

Good Idea with the side arm, a lot of folks don't grasp the concept until they see it in action, I think the hot tub would be great but takes up a lot of space, besides my wife would kill me if I hooked one up on the trailer and I still haven't hooked up the one we have had here at the house for 3 years.

Congrats on the new position!  I hope it all works out for you!

I was thinking hot tub as well!  But, I see your point about space.  I do like the hot water aspect like Mr. LittleJohn recommended.  You could at least show a plumbing mock-up of how the valve, thermostat, and heat exchanger work for a hot tub.  I had a difficult time getting the gumption to set mine up because I really couldn't visualize how the thing worked.  I think if people knew how easy it was to heat your pool/hot tub, it could really sway them.

I do like the Idea of a mock up, the issue with a tub is that first most shows don't like to use that much water, second is added weight on the trailer if you can't dump it on site, third is most shows will not let you dump on site because they worry about chemicals used.

A giant, old school percolating coffee maker!  Easy mode!

Nothing attracts OWB-type people like coffee and a giant donut warmer plate.  :)

Richard,
You ought to set up an electric clothes dryer using hot air from a water to air heat exchanger. In fact, I'll bet you could come up with a kit to sell to do-it-yourselfers to convert their dryers to dry their wet clothes with water!!
Another great idea that I'd seen one at a show was where a fellow had a 20 plate heat exchanger hooked up to show folks how they could have an endless supply of HOT water.

I have been toying with the idea of making a "drying rack" in the laundry and or bathroom to place wet towels and clothes on.  I think that would attack some of our "bosses" as a way to dry more delicate clothes and have a warm towel when exiting the shower.

OK, going along with the idea of HDW tank, you could also show a kick space heater hooked up "under" a mock cabinet with sink

..or a mock up of how to install a fan coil in a furnace
