Central Boiler / Re: 5036 boiler has corrosion
« on: November 10, 2020, 05:14:51 AM »
I used to lower the temp setting in the summer down to about 150 instead of the 180 we run in the Fall and winter  until I saw the corrosion earlier this summer I also found the damper flap was corroded real bad around the sealing surface Ive ordered a new one waiting to get it I readjusted the damper and for now getting a better seal.

Central Boiler / 5036 boiler has corrosion
« on: November 07, 2020, 05:29:17 AM »
Well I found that my door sealing area at the bottom corners has rusted quit a bit where the rope gasket seals Ive seen moister there in the summer months, was wondering if anyone else may have had this same problem. As to the summer months we run ours all year because we also heat our hot water. We have been running our boiler on a nonstop basis for over 11 years.:(

Central Boiler / Re: Questions
« on: March 26, 2017, 08:52:55 PM »
I had a problem several years ago where I was having to throttle the water going through my heat exchanger to force more through my plate exchanger used for hot water I expected the plate exchanger to be fouled but found that my taco pump 007 had started going bad over a period of time. The impeller was found to be almost nonexistent. I replaced the taco pump with my spare pump and everything has been back to normal.

My current Honeywell thermostat is a RTH8500D its working great for the boiler Im able to have this ramp the temp down at night and then back up in the morning. I f I have to Ill use this the way I currently have it and add another preferably Wifi for the heatpump like I had with the 2 wire thermostat I had previous. :D

Ive been in contact with Honeywell tech support on there thermostat's they say that none of there's will do what I want, I guess Ill have to canvas some of the other manufacture's about there product's I guess if I had to I could go back to 2 thermostat's but I dont want to. :bash:

This is my current wiring that is controlling the fan for heat with the outdoor boiler but I have the heat pump and emergency strips disconnected. It works great this way but want to have heat pump as back up

I was wondering about this thermostat because you can get additional temp sensors for more room's, do these just let you know what the room temp is our is there something else that you can get to help regulate the individual room temps, I saw duct work vent's at lowes that I presume either open or close or change the air flow direction Ill look this morning when I go by there :-\

Electronics / WiFi Thermostat to control Central Boiler
« on: February 06, 2016, 05:13:17 AM »
I had post earlier about a RTH8500D thermostat as I had stated not sure if possible would like to use the thermostat to control just the air handler for the heat and have the heatpump set as the backup heat not the Electric strip's if this is possible great, but I did not want 2 thermostat's like I had setup before. The current Honeywell RTH8500D is working great as it is setup now I just dont have backup heat if the boiler goes out. Any suggestion would be aprreciated. :-\

Thanks for the reply, do you know of a thermostat that might be able to do what i want, Just control the fan for main heat then have the heat pump as the backup

Electronics / Honeywell RTH8500D for use with central boiler
« on: February 02, 2016, 04:09:44 AM »
Ive had a 2 wire thermostat piggybacked in to my Honeywell thermostat so in the winter I have the heat pump set to 67 degree's and use the 2 wire thermostat to control the heat in the house by just cutting the air handler fan on and off, I want to do away with the 2 wire thermostat to the honeywell and just use it. Right now I have it working that way but I had to disconnect the control wires for the heat pump. Every thing is working OK but I had wanted to have the heat pump act as my backup in case the boiler went out just couldnt keep the compressor from trying to come on. Ill try to post a picture later this morning. :bash:
