Heatsource1 / Heatsource brand bought
« on: July 28, 2012, 08:32:48 AM »
Got a card in the mail from CVR Manufacturing , Inc. that says they bought heatsource 1 name  and designs. Basically looks like they want to test your water for $25 a pop. Trouble is, warranty from before is still null and void. I can test my own water for that. any way, they don't appear to be selling the Energy series. I am pretty we can all find parts elsewhere for less. They are located in Galesburg, Kansas now.

Looks like suspicions may have been true, Seems that Shaver may have been fudging? see:http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=viweaniab&et=1109252550607&s=22144&e=001Aolzl4VTrC3yXa6u3hxWhlVwCHxLUl_GzPzhIGZIe-bP_hjhcld9OjQi8_rxp7epcFFD0ohg_KcZQEKUxZ5Fb6gK1ECQtGrzv3CR4S65CY5XBiEjG5mgS1wPzrWpdVQJh0B4SQXbu0jdEZcvA196nkXDk7EEGf47ltc0BjHDe2Bibgk1tGheop4W7d2_TMyHe4ME9LVyheBIeYSLU25lJ9E07l97oBzF_rtZuPTnfOrRFPyp71lyshsNRqRQm0FswpFkthkaAA7bj3V-7ng1gA==

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Cheap Chinese Junk
« on: January 28, 2012, 09:11:17 AM »
Well fellas, Last year I built my shop heat exchanger using a tractor radiator(new one I had laying around) . Worked great for a year, couple of weeks ago furnace calling for water. Me thinks ut oh, where's the leak. I go hunting to find what I thought was a drain fitting leaking on the radiator. Had not been in shop for a couple of days and went out to find the floor wet. Upon further inspection, I found that all the rows of the radiator were leaking and looked like swiss cheese, joints were all leaking too. Chemical says safe for aluminum, copper, etc. Then someone pointed out the Chinese thing. I guess they use a solder that appears gold, USA stuff looks silver. Well I ended up ordering a new heat exchanger to replace that radiator. This time a USA piece. My advice is to buy the USA/Canadian  stuff and save in the long run. I might add that the USA made heater core that I used ( it was used also) is still perfectly fine, no issues.

Plumbing / Fittings
« on: November 09, 2011, 07:19:46 AM »
Word to the wise: Don't use anything other than Sharkbite brand fittings if going this route. Every off brand fitting I used leaked upon fire up this year. Luckily, most were in shop. Do have a few in house, but that will be remedied today. Looking at the construction differences, between the 2, I see why. The Sharkbites grab onto the pipe with more "fingers" is my first observation, and overall the fit seems tighter.

Heatsource1 / Time to stoke the fire once more
« on: November 09, 2011, 07:15:22 AM »
Awoke to a few inches of heavy white stuff this a.m. What a shock! Guess, I better feed the boiler. Hope my new fittings arrive today to fix my leaks. Nov. 9th. Not too bad, I guess.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / LP withdrawl
« on: January 20, 2011, 06:29:32 PM »
Help!Someone help me please! I am having withdraw symptoms from my LP supplier. Symptoms: Extreme joy and the urge to thumb my nose at the LP truck as he drives on by, extreme joy and happiness when I get the local coop statement and it's all $.00, smiles from ear to ear every time I chuck a piece of wood into the boiler knowing that I am not feeding an Oil pirate  his next meal, urge to constantly be in my now heated shop every waking hour. What do I do? I think I'll shop for a new saw............. ;D
