PEXworx Oxygen-Barrier Pex-Al-Pex - Any Good?
« on: March 10, 2014, 08:21:06 AM »

I have been running across Pexworx pex-al-pex a lot. Anyone familiar with this brand or have used it? Seems to be very inexpensive compared to other P-A-P oxygen barrier tubing & their fittings seem to be about 1/3 of the cost of other P-A-P fittings. Makes me wonder about the quality of this Pexworx.

I posted a similar topic in "Plumbing", didn't receive any replies.

Thanks,

Your system is an open system

What benefit are you seeking from using pex al pex?

I have used it on a previous OWB install 14 years ago. Guess I just like working with it & have extra compression fittings still left over that I can use for my new install this summer. I realize their won't be that much benefit by using oxygen barrier PAP for an open system.

Sure there is, by. Using oxy Barr pipe you now only have one source for air intrusion. Instead of the whole piping system. I don't ever use off brand pex, it's another case of you get what you pay for. I've never went out of my way to use PAP unless it was spec'd. Any name brand oxy Barr pex is known to be safe. Many are trying to slip pex C in cause its cheaper.
