Pictures Of Our "SMOKELESS" Outdoor Wood Furnace
« on: February 16, 2015, 07:03:05 AM »

Took some pictures this morning of our advertised smokeless owb, this is 15 minutes after loading, as I am typing this it is just over 1 hour since loading, has cycled on and off, pretty much the same picture if I were to take another one now. If someone can please let me know how to post, I will add 3 pictures. I get a notice that the uploader file is full, yet my picture size is only 800x530

Woods dry.
It's the cold..... and I had red hot coals in the box.
Threw in a wheelbarrow o wood and closed the door.
Fan blows good and everything started up at once.
Gotta love it

A lot of that can be moisture condensing in the air. To the untrained eye it looks like a gasifier smokes as well except its actually steam and dissipates very quickly. Thats all I get from the waste oil boiler in the shop is steam out of the stack, disappears before it travels 10 foot.

Barometric pressure, relative humidity, ect.

Even the infamous Optimizer 250  smokes some times on a new charge of wood especially.  A classic style boiler is going to smoke even more.  Who would call a BL series "smokeless?"  That's not possible.

I was wondering the same thing, who sold you on saying they were smokeless?

Mr. Maple, I'm not sure where you heard smokeless burn but the B-L is not even a gasser and even those are not truly smokeless, the B-L, as I am sure most folks who have them will tell you, burn pretty darn clean without being a gasser, I have run them myself at shows, they CAN be burned cleanly, if they were to smoke as badly as you say then I certainly would not have been allowed to burn mine at the 2014 logging expo in Richmond Va. if you are having this much problem with a B-L, I would truly not want to sell you a gasser for sure, some folks simply don't understand that burning wood is sometimes a bit of a challenge and if you wish to continue doing so, it might help if you were to take a bit more positive attitude about your stove, I am sorry you don't like its performance but perhaps it is not 100% on the boiler itself and a portion of your issues are self inflicted.

Mine sure works great, even if you had dry wood its gonna smoke just like a campfire does no way around that without it being a gasser. All the heavy smoke I get is from throwing green oak in with some of my wood when loading also maybe you should not load it till you can't get another stick in instead fill it half to 3/4 I always fill mine that way and get 12-14 hours and when I filled it full it gives me maybe an extra hour while piling up a crap load of ashes. For instance I filled it 3/4 full last night and the boiler was still half full this morning. I've burned around 5 cord this winter.

I think there may be a bit of confusion here.  The OP hasn't put up his pic yet.  The "steamer" up there is someone else.

(is that a UFO in the upper right?)  :o
