Equipment / compact tractors: Mahindra vs. LS
« on: December 06, 2017, 06:52:12 AM »
so I am in the market for a 30-40hp 4 x 4 diesel compact tractor. I have done a bit of research as well as talked to a lot of the local farmers. I have narrowed by decision down to either an LS or a Mahindra. I am going to the dealers this weekend to check out their models and see which is right fit for me and my family. Looks like the LS dealer is willing to work with me on a cash offer were as the Mahindra dealer was a bit more pricey for the same HP and not willing to budge at all.

Anyone own either??? experiences??? Thanks

Plumbing / wife wants me to install a mixing valve
« on: December 01, 2017, 12:54:53 AM »
for years ive ran without a mixing valve. Never seen the need, I just don't crank the hot water up all the way when taking a shower. lol. I actually loved the super hot water for cleaning dirty pots and pans...amazing what 160+ water will do.

Unfortunately my better half wants me install a mixing valve now the boys are a bit older and we will have more people taking showers/baths.

Whats the best one to go with?

Thanks!

I know I have asked a few members privately about this, but does anyone have a good instructional video on how to remove and clean the sight glass on a g series stove? if not, any possibility that one of the Heatmaster dealers wants to make a tutorial video on this??? From a consumers stand point this would be very very helpful.

one thing I noticed that would really help all manufacturers is more OWB tutorial videos. This would be my biggest recommendation from a consumer standpoint. I have purchased 3 OWB over the past 5 years (bought on each time we moved). I was always on youtube trying to find tutorial videos on each brand, and besides a few from CB (which I wasn't interested in anyways), there really isn't much out there. Walk through videos, videos of stove components, videos of stoves in use, maintenance videos, troubleshooting videos...ect.

Yes, I know there are a few out there for HM, but besides the few old one...there is not much.

Just wanted to throw this out there for what its worth. :bash:

so I recently upgraded from a 15-58 to a 26-99 for the house loop. While using the 15-58 on high setting, my Delta T when DHW and Furnace were calling for heat was 40-42F (20 for furnace and approximately 20-22 for DHW) which is WAY to high IMO. So I bumped up to 26-99 and installed a few days ago. With pump set on medium setting I am now at a 30-32F delta when DHW and furnace are both calling for heat at the same time (15 for furnace and 15-17 for DHW). Is this sufficient or should I bump that sucker up on High setting and get the delta down even lower? I don't want to move the water so fast that it cools the register temps either.....anyone got insight here??? my only concern with running a Delta on the higher end is that when the water temp at the boiler is down around 160-161 and getting ready to fire, if everything in the house calls for heat....I will see return temps around 130ish...which, IMO is way to low. I have a g200 and it has been recommended that I don't mess with the temp settings as it has a high limit shut off set at 190. I think the factory settings are 160-180, and probably for good reason. My old heatmor I ran at 175-190 and had it dialed in at a Delta of 23F when everything in the house was calling, I was running a B&G-36 on high setting. so, even when water temps were at 175, and everything at house was calling, I was only seeing the lowest return temps at around 150-152F.

I feel like im over analyzing, but after making another HUGE investment in a new set-up, I want to do everything I can to ensure a long boiler life.

any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

HeatMaster / training wheels....🤣😂
« on: November 01, 2017, 08:08:51 PM »
so after a hard adjustment from years running conventionals....i think i finally am getting the hang of this thing...firat few days were rough. Couldnt keep a fire, couldn't get it to gas...ect, ect ect....most of which was due to my inexperience running and understanding this unit. But, the last 48hrs it has been running good and gassing like a champ. pure blue flame at peak gassing. took me a few loads to get a good good coal bed established. i am really impressed with thw efficiency so far on this unit....thanks to marty, jon and alex for all the help getting me broken in!!!

HeatMaster / G200 Installed.....excited to fire up!!!
« on: October 12, 2017, 07:59:22 AM »
New 2017 g200 has been installed rough plumbing in house is completed finishing rough plumbing in barn this weekend also hooking up electric this weekend and hopefully fill in this thing with water and hoping that we don't have any leaks! We will be hitting approximately 4000 square feet plus domestic hot water. Located in southeast Michigan. Burned in the past with a timberwolf as well as a Heatmor. Burned roughly 20 cord per year. I have a cord of seasoned split red and white oak ready for this year and I'm hoping that it is enough. My family and I are excited to run this new unit and see the difference from our old conventionals.

Plumbing / Flex hose for pump hook up at boiler
« on: September 18, 2017, 07:31:44 AM »
Hey guys got the heatmaster G 200 set in Place this weekend I ran 1.25 inch Reauh insulated PEX....man that stuff was a BITCH!!!!!!! With the help of my son in about 5 ratchet straps he finally got it placed into the boiler with about 2 ft to spare extra inside the back rear panel. My dealer suggested probably using a 1.25 inch flexible heater hose to make the pump connections as that stuff is going to be hard to straightened out and get in place. I know there were some threads from last year were some others had used this method. Anyone have pics???

i prefer to run all copper if i can....any other ideas for molding the pipe to you can work with it a bit?

thanks gents
