So is P&M making 409 tanks now? Or are these aftermarket tanks.

They will be aftermarket. By a reputable 409ss manufacturer.

have a bl4044 that I traded in from the original owner after 4 years use it sprung a good leak at the brick seam and leaked down while the aquastat kept the unit running off steam temp till it self destructed.   distributer offered NO warranty-was only 12,000 new.  was traded for a new 409ss unit.  This is not the fist p&m with no warranty for us.  We will be offering replacement tanks for the bl series in 409ss by next summer(with warranty)at competitive prices. 507-234-5679

Crown Royal / Re: Anyone in here running a crown ????

I am looking at the Crown MP 7300 and  the Heatmaster C250. The Crown is $800 dollars more, but I am leaning towards the Crown .
They both have the same list price.

They have new coal units and other new stuff this summer sure to impress, they definitely don’t skimp on anything.  I’m sure Ryan will be posting about new models.

I would stay away from p&m, I've had a couple customers with leaks on 4-6 year old units and the warranty was nothing. i’m Very happy not to be handling them anymore.  the bl series are going to have some issues in the flange between tank and brick, so it seems.  Efficient but that seem and creosote are proving to be a problem, and the guy in charge of warranty.

I still stand by the fact that the conventionals are so inefficient at capturing heat that at
The end of the season you end up burning less wood if it is on the greener side vs. the dry side because te wood burns slow(and cold).

you have obviously never been around a good conventional stove.  There are a few with multi pass heat exchangers that are darn efficient.

that guy has way too much time on his hands for sure!  bet when its winter and snow coverd ground that don't work so good, it was spinning on dry dirt

Have 4 hay racks, stack full and park till they get backed up next to boiler one at a time. Handle it twice once it's in the stove.

Portage & Main / Re: Is a 28-40 right for me?

Most stainless units are made with 10 ga or roughly 1/8" material because of the lifespan while mild units use 1/4 because the rust away much faster.     Knowing that any 409 SS unit is going to sound like it's thin, but it will without a doubt resist corrosion much longer.     409 can also withstand higher continuous temps.    I just cleaned up a 2 yr old unit that sat full of ashes all summer and chipped out some creosote from a few spots and I should take a pic as the steel looks like new, even shines yet.
There has been a few brands made with 304ss , these are much thinner yet , don't know if that's what yours is ,I thought taylors were all mild steel.    304 can be hard to work with from my understanding

If you like the BL series you should take a look at the crown royal 7300mp.   I feel the efficiency is same or better with the turbo draft.  I've Burned both.  plus they are 409ss and have smoke bypass

I hope they did the plumbing much simpler than the one i've seen.  even us dealers can't understand some of the plumbing.
