Yea very frustrating being self employed during the winter months doesn't make it easy to swing it... It's a shame I love the area and my property won't be doing this in my later yrs that's for sure..

I live in NH where we do not have an income or sales tax.  The tax burden falls on the property owners.  I have just a smidge over 5 acres of land - no wood lot - just field with an 1840's farmhouse.  The property where I live is premium due to the view (when I get a few minutes I take a picture and post for all to see).  My taxes are around $6,000.00/yr.  Roger

The whole country is gone to chit, gov. Wants all YOUR money. Why is it everything costs so much? Do WE the people demand it?   Our local school reduced there budget by 375k last year and they had to eliminate 42 teaching positions. Get rid of the people who are teaching( or babysitting) our kids to run the rest of the distric. Something is wrong with that!

That view tax in NH is bullcrap. I have 44.5 acres in Maine, heavily wooded in tree growth. I think I am about 4000.

It's not a view tax in their view, if your property has a view ergo it's worth more so they tax it more.

For those not watching, last thursday, crude was at 38 dollars per barrel, I just checked it this morning and it's at 48.30, 10 buck increase in 3 working days. Really, I find that typically you can see something about to pop when we see large fluctuations like this in a short time. A friend of mines son is being deployed to Kuwait very soon, he thinks there is a build up happening, I wonder if we are at it again?

Update, $48.66 @ 7 am eastern standard time this morning, I would suggest getting the tanks topped off very soon if you have oil for a backup system!

From the sounds of it I was lucky that I had my oil tank topped off about a month ago at $2.50/gal.  Roger
