RidgeWood Stoves, defunct, support only / Overheat
« on: May 10, 2016, 05:14:53 PM »
We've had our 7500 for 3 years, we run it 365 days a year.  We burn wood that has been seasoned at least one year.  I came home tonight and temp was 214 spitting water out the weep hole and steam out of the top.  First time this has happened.  Without going through back threads on this topic, not sure what caused this.  Thoughts?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Water Treatment Solution
« on: October 25, 2015, 06:17:51 PM »
What should I expect to pay for water treatment solution?  Is $45 per 1/2 gallon a fair price?  Are they all about the same quality?  As always, thanks for your input..........Vincent Meyers

I'm done with my rant ;D...........I'm having to put 1 to 2 gallons of water in my 7500 a week, do you guys think this is normal?  I was wondering if I am not steaming some out of the unit ( 185 - 175 differential ).............vpm

RidgeWood Stoves, defunct, support only / Water Level
« on: December 22, 2014, 02:46:56 PM »
I've noticed on my Ridgewood 7500 that the site glass showing water level is around 3/4's full (the site glass is 3/4's full )  Is this normal for all of their stoves?  When we made the initial fill of the stove 2 weeks ago, it, it peed out of the top of the site glass until we are at the level we are at now.  Just curious.  So far, love the heat and the awesomeness of the stove.  Wishing all of you a warm and very Blessed Christmas..............Vincent Paul Meyers

After 2 1/2 months of work on this OWB, we have fire and heat!!!  My wife of 35 years just told me to turn the thermostat down-words to my ears.  I want to specifically thank SlimJim and ALL of the Ridgewood owners who helped answer all of my questions and concerns.  You all have my debt of gratitude that I will never be able to repay..............vpm

RidgeWood Stoves, defunct, support only / Water Fill Up on Ridgewood
« on: December 08, 2014, 07:38:23 AM »
Hi guys, in anticipation of getting the furnace heat exchanger installed this week, any suggestions on water fill up?  Since we are water poor on our farm, I was considering hauling water in to fill it.  My problem would be to get enough pressure to go through the back of the stove.  Craig at Ridgewood did not recommend going through the overflow on the top but said it could be done as a last resort.  Any suggestions?  Thanks as always,          vpm

RidgeWood Stoves, defunct, support only / Sidearm Dilemma
« on: November 26, 2014, 06:06:06 AM »
The posts from you Ridgewood owners have been awesome.  As I am doing this install by myself ( frustrating ), your comments, feedback and pictures have been unbelievably most helpful.   I am now at the side arm install.  Can anyone of you upload a picture of your sidearm install?  Tim and Craig have been awesome so far from Ridgewood, but I am not impressed with the sidearm I purchased.  I've seen others out there that seem to me to be much more installer friendly.  Any help you could provide is always appreciated............Still packing firewood to both fireplaces  >:(

Plumbing / Furnace or DHW First?
« on: November 17, 2014, 02:16:17 PM »
Finally we are ready to start the inside portion of our install.  Our pump will be inside our basement in the mechanical room.  Two questions - first, everything I've read indicates the "hot" water line from the OWB should go to the DHW first then to the furnace.  I want to do the opposite, is there a  reason I can't?  Second question, it is approximately 7' from the wall where the lines come through the wall to either the hot water heater or the furnace, any recommendations on the distance  from where the lines come through the basement wall to where I should put the pump?  Electric hook up is a non issue.  As always, any help is much appreciated.

RidgeWood Stoves, defunct, support only / Grates in Firebox
« on: October 17, 2014, 05:35:12 AM »
Just received my 7500 yesterday.  Can't wait for it to get daylight so I can start going through all of the materials.  The entire staff at Ridgewood could not have been more helpful.  A sincerely nice group of people.  I am looking forward to working with them in the future.  A question to the other Ridgewood owners, does installing grates in the firebox make any sense at all.  I know other companies install them and would like the opinions of folks who have already burned with Ridgewood.  Thanks for all on this site who have already helped with so many questions.  I am feeling more questions will be on there way as I begin the install.

Tennessee Outdoor Furnaces / Pex Pipe
« on: August 07, 2014, 09:47:29 AM »
For the guys who check out the Tennessee OWB site, I am curious on what type and manufacturer of Pex Pipe did you use.  I am getting ready to purchase pipe in the next few weeks and just like all of the OWB's out there, there seems to be a lot of options and price ranges on pipe.  As always, SLIMJIM's comments are welcome.  He's the most knowledgeable person I've come across.  Thanks in advance.
