High Limit Temp and differential Changes?????
« on: December 15, 2014, 03:55:14 AM »

Question for the forum:

Who here has raised their high limit? I currently have mine set at at L:165-H:175. I have notices that the natural draft system takes way longer to recover and my water temp will get down to 150 before beginning to make a climb. What temps are others running out there??? im curious to know??? Im  running baseboard water heaters in my 1500 sqft home.

Also, is it normal to here the water boiling inside the stove??? I have never had a boil over and my temp never goes above 175, but it is loud standing next the boiler before it reaches its high limit. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks,

Dylan

I have mine currently set at 185 high and 173 low. I will raise the low setting when it gets colder just to experiment with it a little more this year. I can hear the water boiling in mine too. Mine will occasioanlly overshoot alittle but never over 187.

180/170 here works fine for me.

Burning all seasoned ash split.

Got down to 150 with poplar but still blew out warm heat.

Just started ours up on Friday and it is set at 180/170.  It's been warm here in southern Indiana so I assume I may have to move the temps.  I am currently running our Honeywell pump on low, should I assume when it gets colder I'll need to move it to medium or high?          vpm

I leave my bell & Gosset on medium  all the time.. Might bump it up to see if it makes a difference one day.

thanks for the input everyone. I changed my settings to 180-175 and it seems to be working a bit better. now it only dips to around 167 at the lowest and there is less creosote built up

Mine set @ 190 +/- 8 degree.  May creep to 193, but no issues so far.  Hotter fire = less creosote.  Stay warm....

Does anyone have a link to the controller manual? The Ridgewood stove manual does not go into great detail on settings.
