Fire Wood / Clearing 3 acres
« on: July 31, 2020, 07:52:39 PM »
Been clearing 3 acres out back for a new nut grove. Holy hell I am getting old 6 or 7 hours ties me right up. Got a 14hp chipper and stump grinder from Home depot. They work great but hard on the shoulders wish I was 30 again. But I should get 2 years worth of firewood, Cherry and giant alders with 20 or so spruce in the mix. The pandemic has given me plenty of time to get stuff done.

Just wish everyone a safe spring now that we are all in this handbasket, not sure where it is going yet but we are in it.

Shutting it down for the winter and turning on the mrcool heat pumps. I might put a fire in it if it gets super cold for to long just to keep it from freezing but calling it good with 2 cords of split left.

HeatMaster / G200 fuse question
« on: January 19, 2019, 09:27:30 PM »
What type of fuses does the fan take on the g200. Fan burnt up and blew a fuse had to bypass fuse there are no spares in the box (they should give you a few someone mention that to the powers that be). Damn blizzard coming but it quit just before it got here but it quit in the dark of course. Anyway I dropped the fuse somewhere and cannot find it  :bash:  So if anyone has a idea what they are it would save me from have to take the control panel apart again it is not very user friendly. I know they are 2amp 250v but not sure the size or fast acting or slow.

Electronics / Need some help if possible
« on: October 30, 2018, 06:32:27 PM »
I have a question about what wire or wires for the thermostat. I have a Taco SR504 4 zone relay, and a Honeywell THM 5320R wireless thermostat. I am only using 1 zone for now. Question is what letters do I run to the taco thermostat connections I have the power part done 2 wires and some jumpers. I just need to send a signal back to the Taco telling when to come on and off. Any help would be welcomed.

Plumbing / Pump Change
« on: April 16, 2018, 09:55:56 AM »
I have a pump question, right now I am running 2 Taco 007-F5 in series to push water through my in floor heating Would like to change to a single pump. Would a single Grundfos UPS15-58FC replace those. That is what my boiler internal circulator pump is so a spare would work for either one.

HeatMaster / Low Water
« on: September 29, 2017, 08:21:41 PM »
Where is the low water switch located on the g200 have a low water alarm need to check it out.The instruction manual is pretty damn vague on location and it is dark out. Glad this was just a trail run. It got up to about 175 then water sensor quit I guess. Topped it of just to make sure but that was not it. The cover had a screw spin the insert glad it was warm out cause i probably would have broke the plastic frigging around with it. I did not have voltage so I need to check for continuity. Thanks for any help, tips or tricks

HeatMaster / creosote removal question
« on: May 21, 2017, 02:32:35 PM »
End of year cleaning G200 lots of creosote behind panels and around the flanges that hold them in. I guess I should have took them off and cleaned them at some point mid winter. Going to have to do plenty of serious scraping but is there something you can spray on it to remove it. I seen the posts about cleaning the outside with spray products but not sure if it will work inside, any hints beside elbow grease and swearing.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Put the deposit down
« on: January 04, 2017, 09:30:32 AM »
Going to be getting a new g200 soon. Just waiting for The Magic Liberty Bus to arrive. It is going to hurt the bank account but from all the positive reviews I think it is a good decision with the company and state rebates available. Looking forward to very little smoke in the yard sometimes it is pretty bad on my end of the road. Anybody that has one will 20 to 22 inch logs work okay in the burn box because that is what I have right now and for 1 more year. I will probably have to re-split some of them but that is no big deal. From what I have read the bigger pieces go on the top and do not rake the coals much just even them out. You fill it about half full and shake the spirals every loading. Any tips for using the small ends and knarly twisted knotty pieces left over from cutting and splitting a load of wood. I used to use them in the fall till it got real cold but form the sounds of it that would not work well with this system. I have a load of wood to cut in the spring just want start out with the right knowledge.

Plumbing / Should I change my setup?
« on: September 21, 2016, 07:06:34 PM »
When I built my radiant floor system I really was learning as I went I had not found this forum yet. I had 1 taco 007 f5 pump and that was not enough to push the heat around so I put my spare in series with it and it worked. Eight years later one pump quit looking to see if another pump setup would be better or just keep doing what I have been. I have 11 loops of 1/2 pex from 270 to 300 feet usually no more than 6 on at any on one time. Have glycol mixed to 50 below if that matters. Not really sure where to look for this info other than here. Thanks for any advice.

« on: October 30, 2014, 03:46:50 PM »
I was wondering if anyone knew where you can get true 1 inch ID pex tubing I finally got my storage tank and I am looking to put in the pex for a heat exchanger. I know some people do not think you need a tank but I want one. I have logstor and copper all 1inch ID and better. I do not want to bottle neck the system just can not seem to find any that size.

« on: March 03, 2014, 06:58:45 AM »
Any body make their own coal grates for a non gassifier. going to burn a little coal and just wondering what other people have done. I have a welder and torch, just need some ideas since I have never burnt it except mixed into the wood. Or a link to ones that work well would be ok also. -23 last night supposed to be colder tonight, Getting sick of working nights outside this winter.
