my themo pex install ...so far
« on: July 02, 2014, 02:59:49 PM »

I off and running!!   install in progress!  1st pic is of 5' of peeled pipe ...so I can insert it into my 6" abs pipe that I have under the slab and stubbed up into the inside slab> I also placed a hard plastic line in between them so once i'm done I can "add spray foam and seal the line from the inside to the out side !  ;)       2nd pic is oF the black mean snake laying in the yard :-X ..waiting to fight with me !    3rd pic ..Is just a shot  looking  down> "the white foam surrounding my shop" pipe to enter under footing is under it ....(slab on grade)   4thpic>   it my thermo pex INSIDE a 6" pipe ..the flex stuff u buy in a coil  at the big orange " home death spot" (THD)...I ran some 10/3 wire along with it ...more to come as I plan to box in the pipe ...like a T with two  legs   insulation on both side and a board of it across the top

Does that stuff bend easier than the stuff with the smooth outer shell?

Yes Thermo Pex does bend easier, the corrugated outer layer is also thinner and the water lines are nominally sized, I think one of the top 3 choices on the market.

When we did my cousins thermopex we took my 18 volt circular saw and set the blade just deep enough to go thru the outer cover, went around it then made four slits the length wise, piece of cake to peel it off.

I did mine the same way Mlappin.  I used a Fien multi tool, 4 long cuts, once around pipe and finished.

Man, I hope you have some serious ventilation in there!!  You're going to be smoked out every time you open that door!
