Still have to get it thru the senate, then the potus can still veto it.

I have mixed feelings about it, I know some can’t afford a gasser, at least when they first pencil the cost out. Start figuring wood savings alone and they’ll pay for themselves in less time cutting wood, less fuel used for cutting wood, etc.

Like I said, if it was to be passed a lot of companies spent a lot of money on R&D to meet the new standards which would be thrown out the window.

I had plenty of time to buy a conventional, but the advantages of a gasser plus burning less wood while heating more space than my old one was an easy sell.

If you notice this was article is dated Dec. 8. All the comments in the wood stove industry that I have seen give it very little chance in the senate and I read Obama said he will veto it. If it had much chance of becoming law it would have been big news. Very much like some states passing laws against federal EPA,s rulings and declaring victory over the feds. I think these rules are here to stay, we need to learn to deal with it like it or not. However there is some hope to modify the 2020 standard before it takes effect. have you ever seen an EPA rule overturned after it went into effect?

Yes.

For example, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the EPA’s first limits on mercury, arsenic and acid gases emitted by coal-fired power plants, known as mercury and air toxics (MATS).  Michigan vs. EPA which challenged the Clean Air Act in 2011 but was finally overturned just this past June 2015.

That would be court actions in both cases? Shows my ignorance, I just never saw catalytic converters come off autos or 2007 truck standards being revoked. things we deal with daily. I need to do my research before I give my opinion.

One of the questions I have had is whether EPA is going to enforce their rule? As had been mentioned, Companies that have spent the money on r&d could be at a disadvantage. Its hard to win a game if the rules are not enforced or get changed during the game.

This will probably end up like the medical marijuana laws....the Feds see no medical use for marijuana but let the states do what they want.

At this point I think it has a lot to do with who is getting their pocket lined and by who???

Federal statutes override state laws in nearly every way.  The Feds will "enforce" federal statute when it is advantageous to do so.  Federal enforcement agencies do not have the ability to police everything so they pick and choose.  Similarly, the U.S. Congress can really apply pressure to individual states to comply with particular federal statutes, etc. through power of the purse.  This is usually accomplished by withholding federal funds for highway infrastructure building and other large dollar projects.

I've been voting for almost 40 years and this is the most despicable anti-American president and administration I have ever seen. I'm not saying the republicans are much better either. It's obvious we need term limits on all elected positions and take back all the perks they gave themselves.

If you listen closely, you could hear our founding fathers turning in their graves anytime you hear politicians speaking.

Pray and vote the bums out in 2016!

Happy New Year to all

Well we have been heating a 1600sq ft house with wood for about 15 years. Airtight stoves, etc. Last year I had a chance to buy a used P&M for $4000 so we bought and installed it. Seldom see any smoke, burns less wood than the old system, house is now 74 instead of 68F,  BUT a new gasser was going to cost $12000.
We are on 80 acres of hardwood bush which we cut ourselves.
If we did not have the option of the old style then we would still be stuffing branches into the airtight....

The maybe trump will keep his autograph going and grab this paper quick too.  His first 5 days he's been giving himself carpal tunnel will all the stuff he's been signing. I'm gonna keep my faith and foresee this being brought up again.  We need more people in power to view things as we do.

Yeah, I'm thinking trump doesn't view things like most Americans do. Hard to do that when you lived a life of wealth.

Not trump on this one but a senator from North Carolina. Doesn’t repeal the EPA law but instead it says SOP will be that said law was never enacted. Indiana has their own so may still be gassers only in the Hoosier state.
