Heatmor 400 owners
« on: May 02, 2015, 01:24:12 AM »

I have a 200css for 19 years now a leak in fire box  . heating 5500spft last 3 years 3800sqft before that . Thinking about if i replaced it if was worth extra money to to go with the 400css . How I was doing it before 200css was loading 3 -4 times a day when super cold -20f . Now if I went with the 400css could I get full 24 hours loading twice a day at -20f . Because if i could get it to keep house warm full 24 hours at-20f . It would be worth the $2200 more . My thinking my back up heat never kick on (LP and electric) and would be a saving that way . also can I stack the wood in there with 2 ranks 25 inch pieces for split stuff . you know one in front of other .
give me idea how your cutting blocks and loading . Thanks for any info . researching ideas trying to make life easier . :bash:

Heatmor has a new furnace 350X that will heat 8000sqft that is replacing the 400 phase 1 and 2 models. This furnace output is the same as the 400dcss but more efficient. The firebox fits a 30in stick of wood and has 9 secondary flue heat transfer tubes. Using less wood to heat the same area.

I seen new ones and downloaded Manuel to scared to ask how much they are .  leaning to wards 400css . I mastered the 200css
for 19 years and there dang good stoves .  Dry oak below 30% is a match for the 200css and I'm sure 400css would be the same .
keeping ashes cleaned out is keey with these stoves . Mine don't smoke hardy at all just start up from cold .  other wise all you get is heatwaves . so I don't get the whole smoke is the problem . I think its more of wet wood is the problem :) I even tested if you put 3 dry oak 3 wet oak . you get steam for about 30 mins and right back to heatwaves . but I have quite a load on my stove at 5500sqft. So everything burns dam hot . That might be why I don't get much smoke . Be nice to burn less wood though . :)

the new 350X is only about 1000 more than the old style 400DCSS and is more efficent too. Sorry about the delayed reply I have not been on the PC  too much lately :)

True but size of fire box is about size of a 200css  and a bunch more water it kind seems to me . you be loading it alot more and
with all that water you would have bit more creosote issues . Like covered before wood forsure would have to be super dry under 20 % moisture . Just my opinion.  Burning a 400dcss with dry wood I would guess you would be slitting hairs . witch ones better .
