Anybody have any ideas of building a shelter over a OWB Furnace?
Not for the firewood, but just for the OWB.
Cover all sides with one door? Cover three sides? etc?
I know they are made for the outdoors, but I am one that likes to take care of my equipment.

Thanks for your imput.

I have told people to put there owb in a shed or inclose it, when or if neighbors complain, or the town gives them a hard time. then it is no longer an owb and they cant say anything

I'm not sure which stove you have.

However, I think the best thing would be to build a shed over the whole thing.  You arent' going to accomplish anything as far as i'm concerned to box the sides of it.  If your wanting to further protect it from the weather, a roof over the whole area will be your best  bet.

You can keep your wood in the dry and also stay out of the winter mess around the area while loading the stove.

Here is mine 20 X 24.  I have two 8ft pallet racks in there now to stack wood in and still have room to store the log splitter and a trailer.  I would not recommend enclosing it completely,  it gets pretty smoky when the door is open.  But in the future if the laws change it would be easy to put sides on it and it is no longer a owb.

My home built unit is in an insulated building approximately 10 x 10.  There is an entrance door plus a second door which leads directly into the attached wood shed.

I built it myself. I've got almost 2k into it with cement, lights ect. I really like it, when it is raining or snowing it is nice to be able to get some protection from the elements and keep the wood dry.

Yes, it's aluminum diamond plate I cut and broke it up to seal of the underside of the stove, I put some insulation under there and sealed it up, keeps all the critters out.

Thanks guys.  The only thing that I might do different if I had it to do over is I might not put the entire stove under the shed. Really the front (load end) is all that really needs to be covered and that would free up more space to store wood.

true, but if your pumps are on the side of your unit like mine you might have to change out a pump in bad weather. Its better to do under some cover!
