Title: Tools for cleaning out the boiler
Post by: jackel440 on September 26, 2011, 05:39:09 PM
Well I have to say I was lazy last spring.I never went back and cleaned out the ash from last winter :bash:
Oh well it looked the same as when i shut it down in the spring.Anyways I shoveled out all the ash and then used my rake a fabricated last year to rake out the gasification chamber and tunnels. Then I did what my buddy told me he does.I fired up the gas powered leaf blower and blew her out! >:D
Boy is that the cats meow to get a stove cleaned out!
I am filthy from it but it worked good.
I know I know pics are required but i don't figure the cloud and haze would have done a camera any good :photo:
Maybe you all do this ,but I had never tried it.My buddy swears by it ,and I will use mine for this from now on.Sure saves alot of time and hassle

You blew the air into the boiler?  :o
I bought an electric leaf blower vac and reduced it down to a vacuum cleaner hose. I just vacuum out the boiler and let the ashes fly. It works really good in the lower chambers too.

Yeah I just stuck it in there and let her rip. >:D
Actually there was a method to my madness.I had certain steps i went through to blow out certain passages.Due to my stove being a gassifier I have a few different tunnels to get cleaned out.I have to say it worked great ,but now I have to take ashower as I have a nice film of ash dust on me ;D

I use a leaf blower for blowing snow off the roof in winter so I can work.

My buddy uses his stihl backpack blower to move snow off his drive.as long as its not wet he blows the whole thing which goes up into the woods.my drive is to freaking long for that.ill stick with the skidloader with its heated cab.lol
