hey R W does your OWB fan have an adjustable speed control knob, my Crown Royal does and it made a load of difference on my burn time getting the speed adjusted.

Plumbing / Re: Side Arm VS. Flat plate

I'm running flat plates on my setup, currently a 40 plate for the house bypassing the tank altogether but using a tempering valve to keep no hotter than 140 only probelm when OWB temp dropped on me. bought a little cheap 10 plate for my shop, it couldn't exchange heat quick enough sent back waiting on 30 plate. they can put anywhere and take up little space, just get the right size

Don't have any pics, not computer savy enough to post if I did. just type in moisture meter on ebay site. pretty much just stick the prods into the wood and it reads. works good on the hardwoods.

I went on ebay and bought a cheap moisture meter just to toy around with it'll only go up to 40 percent but anything higher needs way more dry time, interesting to see what trees that have been down a while register.

Plumbing / Re: heat exchanger problem

Scratch- I don't have floor heat but would have plenty left to do so. The reason for in series you're pushing water not pressurized so when you wyed the line, the water split it's energy and because the first line is shorter it'll have more push when the two return lines meet back up and that might put back pressure on the second line slowing the flow more.  I'm thinking if you shut everything else down and the 2nd still blowing cold air you probably need a bigger pump for faster recovery.

So if you shut other lines down and still not enough heat recovery, you need to increase volume of heated water go 1" lines which might require bigger pump. That's what I got going with no probelms and like I mention earlier in series or you might need a back flow preventer on the longer line . I've been monitoring my line temp and losing about 10-13 deg. when blower kicks on. if that helps any

Built one of these for my bobcat, same thing happened got into a knot gave it more throttle and tore the wedge right off, probelm, relief valve on bobcat is pretty high. And with 4 way wedge if piece get pinched between cross wedge and I-beam, wood can only compress so far. So now looking into one of those round spiral splitter that you can hook up to auger drive unit. Because the jackhammer just bounced.

OK my two cents, don't know if it matters but I to have two air exchangers but I didn't split off the lines fearing the water would flow unevenly because of different run lengths so it took more line but I ran everything in series so there was no doubt the water went the right direction.

Plumbing / hot tub heating
« on: January 31, 2009, 09:46:01 PM »
Has anybody hooked their hot tub to OWB. Seen diagrams on it, just wondered how much money wrapped up in it. Seemed to me the exchanger was a bit pricey. And did you bypass tub's heating element.

holy smokes 200 feet from property lines, I'm only about 30 feet but land surrounding is unsuitable to build on. Are we going to register our OWB, like guns, dogs and vehicles so big brother keep their eye on us.  If they say you can't have one are they going to pay for it.

Yea I got one those to after searching hard for something high tech. I installed mine on the brass valves just entering the house don't know what my temp difference is for sure but can't be too far off. It's a nice piece of mind knowing the temp and I set the low alarm just in case someone forgets to feed the beast

Well if I'm fetching  from my neighbor's which most of is. I use my 4- wheeler and wagon, if it's soft and muddy my yanmar cr10. If I got a bunch in one area I'll stage my 14' dump trailer in the field. If someone calls and says get this tree outta my yard, I'll go grab it with the mini excavator and thumb attachment or skid steer with grapple bucket either way it's all about the wood
