Thanks for the ideas!

To all,

I think the problem is that years back they installed a heating unit only half big enough to do his home, so the HVAC guys came back and installed a unit to do the job but did not increase the duct sizes to the correct size or a bigger size as needed. He said with the small unit the air flow was in adequate too. I figured they set the fan speed up to compensate for the are flow. What a shame a HVAC business would do this.

He has about 32" to install this in height. So I think I'm going to recommend he flare the duct to hold the bigger exchanger and then flare back down again. I have seen this done in some pictures before.

Has anyone ever done this before.

Thanks for the ideas.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Water to Air heat thicker then 3.5"
« on: October 01, 2014, 02:47:17 PM »
To all,

I have a customer that has a plenum size of 16 x 18. That's 100,000 btu and he needs about twice that. Is there anyone that makes a exchanger thicker then 3.5".

Has anyone ever mounted two exchanger one on top of the other. If so will this restrict the airflow to much as well as the water flow?

dirtdigger,

Where are you located. Maybe there is customer that has one that is close to you.

There is a logboiler in Canada and one in Mi somewhere.

Could not find any prices on Mi site, Canada had a $41,000 dollar furnace and a $71,000 dollar furnace.

Flashpnt,

I had a customer that had a line leak at the back of a furnace and it filled his line full of water to his home about 40 ft. I told him to get a shop vac and suck the water out of the line and it worked very well.

Can you pull the insulated line and reuse it?

Just some ideas!

dirtdigger,

I so not know how many they have out of each version. There is no way for me to know as a Dealer! I do know they only make the square now because the suppliers could not deliver in a timely manner. They do only square now unless they would do a special order for someone! They offer 4 sizes seen in this thread!

Hope this answers your question.

to all,

It may sound silly, but I have heard of this condensed milk thing before. I was told that it coagulates and will stop the leak for a time. Kind of like stop leak in a tire. It is a short time fix and I don't think I would want that hard milk circulating in my system. It might plug something else up!

tree climber,

You would of had a furnace if you would of used the treatment like you were supposed to. Mistake number 1! No use crying over it now. Its all your own fault!

You never did say who your Dealer was so I'm guessing you didn't use a dealer, mistake number 2!

My customers do not have this problem because they used the correct treatment like their Dealer told them to and like the manual says! Read your manual, 3 strikes and your out!

Mr. Maple,

Your concrete supplier should be able to help you with recommendations of the concrete. That's what they do.

Hope this helps

Kyle,

As you can see in the picture the unit is as high as the water level in the furnace I could use a pump on a thermostat and let it run on a water temperature demand at the outdoor furnace and use the one with the tank on top!

Shaver had one on a outdoor furnace and the pump stopping and it burst a couple tubes on the water heater that's why I mentioned the over heating.

A customer has one in Ohio and it got to -40 last year and it did not freeze, that is amazing!

duke,

It might be Okay for ph adjustment but, You do not put rust inhibitors in a pool. Your always better off to use what the Furnace Company recommends.

This way you do not have a warranty issue trying to do it yourself with chemicals that are not approved by your Furnace Company.

Its not cheaper in the long run if you void your warranty!

Hope this helps
