stack fire ?

while i was gone for the evening i think my stack had caught fire and burnt the silicone that goes around where the hull matches up to the stack area. any ideas on what might of happened? everything is still working as it should.

A while back I was loading mine and had one heck of a flame out of the stack so hot the stack was glowing so I shut the doors and let everything cool, took the stack off to look at it and it was clean. Talked to some guys at work and they say it happens once and a while. Not sure if it should happen as I am new to this but my silicone is still in good shape. Just glad it was out side and not in my house chimney.
